So very lovely. John is so great here. The best thing is the way he avoids falling into the usual narrative patterns, which is a pleasant surprise both for me as a reader and for Sherlock and Mycroft, at various points. He's thoughtful and steady and doesn't flip the hell out, and it's just lovely.
This is also a fascinating take on Sherlock. I could definitely see this past history for him. And the bit about Mummy's funeral is so painful but believable, too.
