Earli in the morning...

It's Monday. It's the first day of my "No-LJ@Work" policy. This could be bad.

On the good side, I sent the femslash for beta, and I remembered it actually had a title. (A dodgy, cliched title, but still, a title.)

This may be my favourite single shot of QE's Thom ever. )

So far...

Checked email at 10.15am while covering reception.

Checked it again at 11am, while covering reception.

Checked it again at 1pm, while covering reception. Replied to LJ comments at 1pm, even though I wasn't technically on lunch yet. Posted to LJ (now), even though I'm not on lunch.

Not too bad.

I spent the morning clearing my desk. Imagine a large desk, covered in files and bits of paper. Now, reduce the organisation factor by a third, and increase the mess factor by five. You probably now have a fairly accurate mental picture of my desk at work.

Now, I have six neat stacks of files, a pile of paper on a to do list (with, may I point out, a summary sheet *listing* the things I have to do), and a list of the files on my desk and why they're on my desk. (I still have a pile of paper about two inches thick to go through and sort, but I'm sick of it now.)

Basically, it's a heck of a lot more organised than it's been over the last six months. There's even desktop space!

However, better than that, I found a post-it note sitting behind one of the many messy stacks. It's not in my handwriting, so that's why I never knew about it, but guess what? My phone? one of the few in the office that doesn't have a direct line? Has a direct outside line! Woo!

Seriously, at lunch, I'm going to have to call Mum and let her know. (She doesn't call me at work, because she doesn't want to give the receptionist the wrong impression, but now... my own direct phone number!) Yes, I *am* ricidulously pleased by this.

*sigh* I'd like to write, but I have no real ideas. Instead, I'm going to catch up on LJ, and then maybe, finish typing up my list of files.

Hmmm... it's 2.20pm. I just got out to lunch at 2pm (stuck covering reception). I'm tossing up whether I want to sit here and write something (*sigh* I'm actually tired. I couldn't quite be bothered...) or just scoff down my food, and go back to work at 2.30pm (and leave at 5.30pm).

Either way, I'm making this afternoon's goal to check Hotmail at 2.30pm, and then check it again at 4pm. (Do you think you can be physically addicted to email & LJ? Or is it just that I'm now realising how boring my life is...?)

And, considering that my posts for a while are going to be along the "Oh, man, no LJ access..." and "Woe is me, for I have not checked my email forty times in the last hour", should I be screening these posts? I mean, seriously, is this just going to bore/annoy people? *shrugs*

If you don't complain, people, I won't change my ways. *g*

I'm not checking LJ, I'm just updating it.

Checked email twice in the last five minutes. No new messages.

Started to think about writing my Isn't It Iconic assignment. (I could be clever, and work in references to both icons, I know it...)

I need to remember I'm not wasting my time today, even though today is draaaaaaaging. (And, I should remember Celli's support, and Signe's big frightening stick.)

Hurry up 5.30pm!

The time is 5.35pm, and the first thing I do is check LJ. *sigh of relief* That's better. Now I know that nobody's released a thrilling new wip, or come up with mind-shattering meta, or started a really amusing meme while I was gone.

I have to study tonight (I promised Celli, and apparently there's a fic in it for me if I do *g*), so... I'll probably catch up with y'all in 12 hours time. It's not such a big deal to avoid LJ, it just feels like it because it's because such a well-loved habit.

Anyway, I wanted to try to start a meme, or a sort. I asked [livejournal.com profile] tboy this question, and her answers were downright intriguing. Hence, I want you guys to answer for me (either in the comments here or in your own LJ's).

Describe your current fannish obsession in five words.

I don't care if your current fannish obsession is a show, a character, an actor, a pairing. Hell, it could be a genre, for all I care. I'd just like to find out what you think of it, why it attracts you. (Plus, it's a great excuse to read some really interesting words.)
