One thing I've noticed about John and Rodney is how well they migrate into AUs - they have such personalities that even removed from their regular settings, they're completely identifiable. Rodney's ability to always say the wrong thing and somehow do the right thing, and John's casual distance from everyone, his willingness to take risks but only so far.
That is-- Yes, I mean-- *Yes*, exactly it. Exactly how I see the characters, and how I'm thrilled that you saw that in this story, because it's certainly not something I could have explained/described/worked into the story in any clear, concise way. So, yeah.
I'm stuck sitting here and mumbling, "Yes," over and over, so take it as a good sign.
