It's mindboggling in the former, I think. Well, maybe it's that with dial-up internet, and work, these days, I only honestly keep up with 30 LJs. If I spent more time reading LJ and less time attempting to write, maybe I'd keep up with 50.
My basic mindset is that Others Are Like Me (ethnocentric, I know, but it's how my head works) so I figure that maybe there's twenty people who read as friends would -- with interest in the boring details of my life -- and maybe another fifty floating around and skimming for fannish stuff, like discussions of this latest episode or what does that look mean. And maybe another twenty or thirty who just use the FList to keep up when I post a bit of a wip. So that's, hmmm, 100 explained.
Maybe you're right. I just assume that I'm basically a dull type (well, I think every human being is basically dull and boring; the important bit is finding the ones that get excited about the same dull stuff as you), but back when I was in uni, I kept up with a much larger FList and compulsively read links to other LJs, so it shouldn't make me boggle.
