(no subject)
The boss will be back in Monday. I'm actually looking forward to that. It's not as if I have no work to do without him, I just have no motivation to do it.
It's so ho-hum. I can just sit around reading fics and accomplish nothing. That means that I think about work too much, and don't want to be here. Whereas, generally, when I'm working, I'm busy enough to enjoy it and slack enough not to stress over it.
In fandom thingys, I read the mini-rant about behaviour towards MR at the con, and was intrigued by the MR/Michelle Trachenberg (no, I can't spell her surname *g*) comparison. Because, when asked if it makes a difference? Hell, yeah.
My immediate reaction is that it makes quite a difference. I'm not absolutely sure why, but there you go. Apart from the fact that when it comes to character crushes, I crush far more over MT than MR, there are a couple of factors.
Firstly, age. MT, like KK and AM, isn't even 20 yet (well, KK and AM may be 20-21 now, but still, they're young), MR by comparison is 30+. I think there's quite a difference in worldliness/life experiences, and I think that it would be harder for MR to be completely overwhelmed by fans.
Secondly, gender does make a difference to me. Not in the way of oh, he's a guy, he'll be fine, so much as the gender of the fans. For some reason, I expect female fans to be more huggy than male fans. I think it's just a case of I'm used to women being more physically affectionate than men, or less sexual about being physically affectionate.
Thirdly, MR has been known to discuss things like this. Somehow, I doubt MT would openly bring it to fans attention. It's nasty to say that he's brought it on himself, but to a small extent it is true. You can't be forthcoming about these kinds of subjects and not expect people to bring them up. (That sounds a lot harsher than I feel, but it's basically true.)
Hmmm... I'm wondering if this means that deep down I'm chauvanistic, or just hypocritical.
Oh, lunch time driving lesson! Oh joyous me... *groan*

OT comment time!!
So, if you can possibly get the SV fic to me in the next 2-3 hours, I can make the last boozefest update with that and another fic that's ready to go up, and close the second wave before I head off for the weekend.
Any possibility of that, do you think?
Re: OT comment time!!
If I was at home, I'd be tempted to just post without beta reading, but I don't have access to the file at work.
Sorry.
Re: OT comment time!!
Hmm. I might be able to fit in an update very late tonight, after I get home. Yes! That's a plan.
Re: OT comment time!!
Let's see. I've got the beta back, and I'm just tracking down the file (attached to an email...)
Give me half an hour, and I should be able to upload it, or something. *g*
Re: OT comment time!!
Any ideas?
