I was just saying that it was a fun to try them in a new situation, but it made me stop and think about how to show some of Jeeves' fundamental characteristics (efficiency, intelligence, deviousness and a sombre attitude towards current trends in manners and fashions). The trouble with AUs -- especially one that completely reverses the roles like this one -- is that you have to think a bit carefully about what defines each character (and if your characterisation is off, readers pick up on it really quickly).
and their chemistry shone through the role-reversal so very well.
I think you're right about chemistry. A huge part of *why* they get along so well is that their strengths compliment each other -- where Bertie is willing to help, Jeeves is able to find a way; where Jeeves clearly likes to be the one in control and organising the details, Bertie is generally willing to be led -- so I think that even with their roles swapped, they'd still interact in the same way.
And poor Bertie re: Chuffnell. You conveyed his delicate hurt - and just how much attention Jeeves was paying to Wooster - very well.
