I think that Sherlock's in shock and he's not thinking as clearly as he thinks he is. Or, to put it another way, John might not be a genius, but he's smart enough to know that kissing Sherlock is a good thing and should be oft-repeated. (And it's not the kind of thing you do and then regret later.)
