I've been reading a bit through Yuletide and kept meaning to post recommendations, but kept forgetting. So, here, we are doing a big catchup.

Fourteen (12819 words) by x_art
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: John Wick (Movies)
Rating: Not Rated
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Relationships: John Wick/Winston (John Wick)
Characters: John Wick, Winston, Charon, Cassian (John Wick), The Dog (John Wick), Original Characters
Additional Tags: Post-Movie(s)
Summary:

They were wrong about him. His life had never been a before and after. It just was, and that’s the way it always would be, whether he liked it or not.

This was wonderfully note-perfect both for John and Winston. It worked for me like the movie worked for me: slick and spare and atmospheric, and yet still emotionally earnest beneath that. I really enjoyed it and the slow build of it.

“Why not?” John asked.

Winston set the newspaper down. He set his pen on top of the newspaper. “Do you really need me to answer that question?”

Movement drew John’s eye. It was the new bartender, the girl with the small tattoo on her left shoulder. She was serving a drink but also watching them. When his gaze met hers, she flinched and then hurried away. “Yes. I think I do.”

“Because I don’t sleep with the help.”

Winston’s comment slid in, not sleek or silky, but rough, its edges jagged and painful. “I don’t work for you, Winston.”

“That’s true. As many times as I’ve asked, you always say no.”

Mix-Tapes of Y-our Love (3239 words) by whitedandelions

Fandom: Baby Driver (2017)

Relationships: Buddy | Jason van Horn/Darling | Monica, Baby | Miles/Buddy | Jason van Horn/Darling | Monica
Characters: Buddy | Jason van Horn, Baby | Miles, Darling | Monica, Doc (Baby Driver), Bats | Leon Jefferson III
Additional Tags: Getting Together, Pre-Canon, Yuletide Treat
Summary:

Somehow, the mixtapes of Buddy and Darling start to include him. Baby/Buddy/Darling

The idea of a Baby/Darling/Buddy threesome is very hot, but not something I'd ever considered before I read this story. I like Debora, I do, but this works surprising well and gives an almost happy ending. Darling and Buddy are still sex on legs, teasing and taunting, possessive and dnagerous, but in the right way, at the right time, having someone look after Baby and stand up to Bats and Doc might have made all the difference.

The heat in this story is fantastic and even though it's bound to end in car crashes, flames and gunfire, there's such wild potential there as well.

Darling’s lips are plump and full, and the sounds they make time perfectly with the song he’s listening to. He starts to tap, and Buddy notices, his eyes moving away from Darling to look at him.

He freezes, and he’s normally not nervous around criminals here since Doc’s always watching, but Buddy’s eyes are intense and he’s not smiling.

“What you listening to?”

He shrugs, and Buddy pulls away from Darling to grab an earbud. Baby doesn’t move.

Then Buddy laughs, “Queen?” And then he nudges Darling. “Babe, you’re matching the beat of this song.”

Darling snorts and stops chewing, and pulls Buddy into a heated kiss, her eyes still on Baby.

Something Clever (1856 words) by innie
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Hot Fuzz (2007)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Nicholas Angel/Danny Butterman
Characters: Danny Butterman, Nicholas Angel, Doris Thatcher, Andy Wainwright, Andy Cartwright, Bob Walker, Tony Fisher
Summary: Danny undergoes a genre shift.

Nicholas Angel seduction tip: fill out the right paperwork in advance!

I love this. It captures Danny and Nicholas so well, and it's such a sweet little story. And it made me laugh:

Doris was good at innuendo, so Danny stuck tight to her for the rest of the week. He learned more about sexual positions than he'd ever dreamt – Doris owned the duck pond like she was its very own Lady of the Lake, apparently – but nothing about what he could possibly say to woo Nicholas. He didn't think reminding him of the ketchup trick was sufficiently romantic, but kept that in his back pocket just in case.

Anyone's But Mine (3563 words) by thegirlwiththemouseyhair
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Velvet Goldmine
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Arthur Stuart/Curt Wild, Brian Slade/Curt Wild
Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Anal Sex, Complicated Relationships, Hero Worship, Drinking, References to Drugs
Summary:

Maybe that’s just what Arthur gets for seeing Curt without being high; maybe the whole glam scene doesn’t make much sense and can’t possibly be that satisfying if you’re too sober. He should have made sure to be on something, like he was the first time he slept with Curt. Or maybe it’s true what people say, and you should be very careful about meeting your heroes…

I'm rather fond of Arthur/Curt, especially as a happy future ending, but this is set after they first sleep together. It's sharp and painful, and so utterly doomed by who they were back then.

A Greater Compliment (1295 words) by thedevilchicken
Rating: Explicit
Fandom: Genghis Khan - Miike Snow (Music Video)
Relationship: Gold Nose Villain/Secret Agent (Genghis Khan - Miike Snow)
Characters: Gold Nose Villain (Genghis Khan - Miike Snow)Secret Agent (Genghis Khan - Miike Snow)
Additional Tags: Trust Issues, Scars, Angst, Developing Relationship, Sexual Content
Summary: The next step of their relationship requires a leap of faith.

I like the emotional consequences here, how much these two suddenly feel like fully fleshed characters. I mean, the video clip is a lot of fun but this story really caught my attention.

His face isn't the only place he's scarred. He turns up his shirt collar because his neck is scarred, too, and the length of his spine down to his coccyx, one collarbone, one upper arm, one side of his chest and his torso, all the way to his hip and down under the waist of his blue uniform trousers.

He doesn't remember it happening, but he remembers how Katya cried when she looked at him. He remembers how he couldn't bear it and she tried but that was the beginning of the end, when he came home from the hospital and he took off his shirt to go to bed and she cried, and she *cried*, so he put it back on. She couldn't not look at him as if the way he looked now was a tragedy, and he couldn't not blame her for that.

He knows it's as much his fault as it is hers but she said it wouldn't change things, and it did. He knows she didn't mean to, but she lied.

Ain't Too Early (and it Ain't Too Late) (2407 words) by halotolerant
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Hail Caesar! (2016)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Hobie Doyle/Laurence Laurentz
Characters: Hobie Doyle, Laurence Laurentz, Burt Gurney
Additional Tags: Reunions, 1950s, Period-Typical Homophobia, Hollywood, Post-Movie(s)
Summary:

The first sensation of seeing him – shock, a kind of shivery heat, strangely fearful confusion – vanished swiftly. It was swallowed by the automatic assumption that the sight could not be true.

Surely everyone who saw that film loved Laurence Laurenz? Right? One of my favourite lines of this story is "Laurence permitted himself a mirthless chuckle." because Laurence is the only character in that movie who would both perform the action and think of it in those terms. What I love about this story is spending time seeing the world through Laurence's eyes, the hidden gay scene of Hollywood, past men that he's known, and Hobie Doyle, who is more than he appears but still unmistakably him, earnest and sweet and rather kind.

When he’d gone to look at Burt’s room after Burt first vanished, Laurence had been startled to realise what a blank it was. Evidently Burt had been plotting and planning all that time but there was nothing to give any sign. If Laurence had been directing the scene, rather than just living it, a beam of light would have highlighted something metaphorical – a hammer and sickle discarded from a workbox, or a red scarf, or even the stupid vodka. But the room just had a collection of magazines with Burt in, some with porn in (some of these overlapped) and a lot of material on raising healthy dogs.

Laurence had painstakingly sorted out whatever Burt’s mother might like to keep and then burnt the lot of it anyhow. How could he have explained himself to her?

By Burt’s account, she wasn’t a nice woman anyway. But then Burt hadn’t been a particularly kind person himself, not when you got to know him.

The Tie That Binds (6972 words) by Lorelei
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Reginald Jeeves/Bertram "Bertie" Wooster
Characters: Reginald Jeeves (Jeeves - P.G. Wodehouse), Bertram "Bertie" Wooster (Jeeves - P.G. Wodehouse), Dahlia Travers
Additional Tags: Humor, First Kiss
Summary:

Aunt Dahlia asks "Who is going to look after you? Who is going to remember your birthday and make sure you’re not alone on Christmas? Don’t you want someone to grow old with?”

And Bertie replies, “Oh, don’t worry about that, aged A! Jeeves will look after me!”

I do love a good getting-together story, and this was wonderfully in character. The image of Bertie pretending to be sick so Jeeves could nurse him is so oddly sweet, along with Jeeves indulging the lie. I liked Jeeves genuine concern at Bertie's fall and how easily Bertie insisted on using Jeeves' first name after that.

And the Christmas Pudding (12184 words) by aphilologicalbatman
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Reginald Jeeves/Bertram "Bertie" Wooster
Characters: Reginald Jeeves, Bertram "Bertie" Wooster, Augustus "Gussie" Fink-Nottle, Madeline Bassett, Dahlia Travers, Hildebrand "Tuppy" Glossop, Angela Travers
Additional Tags: Hijinks & Shenanigans
Summary:

The usual Christmas binge goes horribly awry, and Jeeves ends up in the soup.

And a little rarer is the established relationship. Of course, there are still unwanted engagements and Anatole threatening to leave, but it was nice to see Bertie and Jeeves working together towards a better solution. I will also give this story huge points for a sex scene that still feels in-character and well placed in the story. That's very hard to do in this fandom.

How Else Would Sailing Ships Ever Have Navigated? (2328 words) by scioscribe
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Madeline Bassett/Honoria Glossop
Characters: Honoria Glossop, Madeline Bassett
Additional Tags: Flirting, Yuletide Treat
Summary:

“Do you think,” Madeline said to Honoria as the more impressive parts of nature gradually crept up upon them, “that all daffodils are the daughters of sunlight?”

You know what I do like about the Jeeves stories? While all of the women are absolutely *terrible* matches for Bertie, they're not actually terrible people. (With the exception of Florence Craye. I do not like Florence, but she's the worst of Bertie's fiancees.) This story is a wonderful Honoria/Madeline story that shows why neither of them is well suited to Bertie, but how well they could get on. I especially love this Madeline, who is whimsical and focused on beauty over truth, but is also somewhat self-aware. There is a canniness hidden deep in this Madeline that I appreciate (and that I also believe Honoria would see, but Bertie would never actually notice it -- he'd be too busy trying to extract himself from the conversation).
