It's almost lunch...
Aug. 14th, 2003 11:28 amI wanna see the OC. I could get into it, I'm sure. Hell, I watched Young Americans and enjoyed it. *g*
Quick questions for USians watching this: what does the "OC" stand for? (I keep thinking we're just missing one O, for Out Of Character... *g*)
Last night was fun. Lot's of good ideas about UST, even if it was all het focused. Spuffy was used as an example of a relationship that satisfied the sexual tension but retained the emotional tension, and I cracked at the clips we saw (The kiss, from the musical; the rape scene; matyr Spike being burned - really, that does sum up the relationship for me. *g*) There were other BtVS clips shown (Xanya "I'll Never Tell", and S4 Spike asking Buffy to marry him) and examples from Seachange, Secret Life of Us, and X-Files. There were some interesting ideas, but I'll ramble on about them later.
Hey, has anyone heard of the website "Jumping the Shark"? Sounded pretty bitchy/snarky, and was mentioned a lot during the presentation. (Along with someone's shocking comment re: BtVS going downhill after Willow became gay and started seeing "her ugly girlfriend" (Tara!) *grrrrr* That person must be blind.)
Also, I met another Sorkin slasher (anyone who mentions homoeroticism and "For me, WW was never about Josh and Donna, it was always about Josh and Sam", is someone that I have to introduce myself to!) Invited her along on Saturday, but I need to remember to email her.
*sigh* The boss is out today, and I have a list of things I should be doing, and no motivation to do them. It's very bad. I'm just tired, and my ear's a little sore, and my throat's a little scratchy. It's not that I'm really sick, I'm just feeling rundown. I need a good night's sleep (ie. bed before midnight).

Date: 2003-08-13 07:25 pm (UTC)Okay, well, personally, I've got quite a thing for Tara. I mean, I'd say that S1-3, the most attractive gal was Cordy, S4-6, it's Tara. S7? It's a toss up between Dawn and Anya. (I don't know, Anya is attractive and cute but... *shruggs* It's the same as Willow and Buffy. I just don't lust after them.)
But, fair enough that she's not your cup of tea. (Just means more for me... *bg*) Which girls would you have considered the most attractive on the show? I'm curious...

Date: 2003-08-13 09:24 pm (UTC)And I do belive OC stands for Orange County, as in that place in Calif.
Jumping the Shark is pretty funny. It's basically a reference to The Fonz jumping over a shark on Happy Days, and how that was the point the show turned bad. And so a show "jumps the shark" when it goes bad.

Yeah, there were lots of references to it during last nights talk. Mainly about how the UST is frequently resolved as the show goes bad. Either the characters become dull once they're together and happy, or they stretch it out until everyone becomes bored with it.
It was an interesting talk, but I need time to think it through...

Date: 2003-08-14 05:23 am (UTC)The Caribbean slayer. I thought Cordelia was prettier when she was on Angel.... Older Willow was always cute.... Anya... was always a bit too chipper. :)

Date: 2003-08-14 05:31 am (UTC)I've had a soft soft for her ever since she said to Willow: "I am, you know. Yours." Makes me melt every time. She did look big compared to stick think Buffy and Willow but she's the one I'd want to go out with in that bunch. The rest are all too fucked up *g*

Date: 2003-08-14 05:15 pm (UTC)She did look big in comparison, but she had curves! I miss the days when Buffy had curves. It's just... wrong for gals not to have busts and hips.
Tara was sweet and caring, but had strength and oomph underlying that. She was gorgeous and sexy, and had a good sense of humour. *happy sigh*
Tara is sooooo my TV girlfriend. *g*
