Buffy/Angel season premiers...
Feb. 13th, 2003 10:41 amI'm sending out electronic hugs to
iibnf. Hope you feel better soon. (Also, I checked the link. It was on
celli's LJ, not yours. Oops.)
I watched the season openers for Buffy and Angel last night. After spending most of the non-ratings season looking forward to your fave shows, there is nothing better than being completely thrilled by them.
As for Buffy, the idea that Giles doesn't know anything about synchronised swimming? Reminded me so much of why I adore Giles. Anya's dark hair, I can do without... and Willow's seemed so bright it could almost double as a highlighter.
With BedHair!Spike at the end, I had a moment of thinking that Glory had somehow escaped and was living in Warren's body, then Adam came on and I recognised the theme of villians, then I was was silently hoping that the Mayor would come on, and then he did! (Man, I was this close to doing a triumphant little dance!) Plus, Dru, and ending with Buffy. I've still got the episode on tape, so I'm going to rewatch it again sometime (this time without the lights on and mum marking homework and going through roles on the couch...).
How cool is it that Dawn's developing Scoobies of her own? Also, I already love Kit, and am already mentally slashing her with Dawn. (How old is MT anyway? In the scenes with her and Buffy walking together, I couldn't help admiring her curves. I just don't want to be a dirty old lech at 22... *g*)
As for Angel, I loved the opening teaser. Had a moment of "What the...?!", and thought that we'd be stuck with a load of flashbacks explainng it all neatly, and then Wesley popped up and I had fun trying to work out who's dream it was. All in all, I really enjoyed Angel's delusions. (Interesting, that on the same week, both Angel and Spike are seeing imaginary people... Maybe it's the crazy time of the century for Vamps-with-Souls? *g* Watch out for 2103 where they both start causing mayhem and talking to lamp posts...)
Wes is so my favourite male character, and I was just cheering the guy on. Cool, calm and collected, harsh when he needs to be, sleeping with Lilah and keeping a girl in a cage. You have no idea how much I loved him in this episode! Plus, the Wes/Angel vibes couldn't have been much stronger.
Also loved Lilah, for taking control as she should. Out of all the lawyers, she's lasted the longest, and she's the least compromising, so she should be in charge. As for her competitor Gavin, I haven't liked him from the start, so I'm all for her showing him how it's done.
Cordy at the end cracked me up. Maybe she'll return a little less St Cordy and a bit more Queen Cordy. (I can hope.) Fred managed to almost gain my sympathy and piss me off. Are they doing something different with her make-up? She looked much prettier than before (or maybe I just noticed that she is a very attractive girl). If only she didn't speak... *g*
Totally thrilled with my shows. Didn't really watch Boomtown, although I meant to, so I don't know if it was any good. Anyone else catch it?
