Fic recs...

After chatting with [livejournal.com profile] tboy about my first fandom (SM), I was going to post a link to the first explicit fic that I ever read at the worldly age of fifteen, but can't find a link to it anywhere. It was Sailor Moon Half by Windlily, and really was just an excuse for smut. I did find the second smutty fic, and first definitely yaoi fic (I'm not sure if the threesomes in the first one count) I read, which was The Ballad of Zoicite and Malachite by Windlily. It's long, but I enjoyed it. When I have more time, I'll reread it and see if I'm still just as impressed.

While searching for that link, I also found a short, and old, list of yaoi favourites. The fics I recognise are good (esp. the Utena one's by !SuperCat, check 'em out [livejournal.com profile] jmtorres) and when I have time, I'll check out the rest.

*squee* AnK, Zetsuai/Bronze and Kizuna fics!

Hey, !SuperCat wrote Faith fic... Ooh, that's good.

Got to bed at 3am. The alarm went off at 6am. The fact that I was out of bed by 6.40 is a miracle. (Plus, only 15 minutes late to work - not bad!)

The partners are in meetings all morning, as two of the Team Leaders have decided to leave, and the office is quiet. Spent all morning working on that stupid assignment, but it is now in the mail, and out of my hands. (Woo. Hoo.)

I have a desk full of stuff to do, and I'm stuck and confused about all of it. Can't talk to the boss (in the meeting...). Figure I'll organise a new compliance file, which I've been meaning to do for a while, since we have a Compliance audit coming up in June.

On the bright side, we may be having a Staff social night on Friday, 2 May. If Jon, Ben and I get our way, we'll be going for Buffet at the Casino, and then watching X-Men 2 at Village Crown. If it works out, it will seriously rock.

Meanwhile, the lack of sleep has made me a bit punchy, a little hyper and not at all productive. Hence the rambling... I'll be kind and just inflict this entry on Friends... *g*

Exam Hell

This is for the Under 30 Minutes - Early Morning challenge at contrelamontre. It would have been longer, but work suddenly became busy. Hence, here's my 14 minutes worth of contribution:

Exams were designed to be hell. Pete had said it, and Clark agreed with it. They were designed to clear out the ranks of students who didn’t have the fortitude, or caffeine supply, to stay up most of the night cramming.

And when he said most of the night, it wasn’t a case of dragging themselves to bed at 2am and then grumbling as they got ready in the morning. It was staying awake from 6am that morning until 11pm that night, crashing until 2am, and then getting up for that last minute study and a quick revision of the six chapters they somehow hadn’t found time to read.

It was unreal. It was still dark outside, and hopefully would remain dark long enough for them to skim at least one chapter each and summarise it for the other. There was the strange feeling of being exhausted and being too wired to even consider sleeping. Muffled yawns were hidden behind cups half-filled with luke-warm coffee and it was only the sound of pens scribbling down hasty notes that broke the pre-dawn silence.

Exams were hell.

Some crossover ideas are just too much fun. Who says that The Terminator and Jane Austen have nothing in common?
