HP rec

Well, since I've just read this fic, it probably means that every other HP fan has already stumbled across this, but an extra rec never hurts.

The Tale of the Shining Prince is amazing. It's one of those fics that takes canon and characters, gives it a totally new style and perspective, and introduces you to a vivid new world, full of depth and narrative. Think about Lust Over Pendle, and you'll get an idea of what I mean.

I don't read a lot of HP fiction, but this was wonderful. Even if you're like me, and only read a couple HP fics a year, go read this. It is utterly convincing, and deeply satisfying in a way that most fiction, whether fannish or professional, is not.

seperis rec'ed this, as did eliade (here) and spoke about the stylistic effect of this piece in a far more articulate way than I can manage. I'll just say that I haven't been quite this impressed with a piece of fiction for quite a while, and there honestly isn't anything that I'd change about it.

You know, I'm loving the fifty icons thing. I'm getting all fandom whorish about it. Smallville, Sorority Boys, West Wing and Sports Night. All big fandoms and they have the icon count to prove it. (Mind you, I could do with a TW/Clark icon. He is very pretty, and yet, I have no icons of him. I think that's kinda fundamentally wrong.)

All the same, I have my Girls icon back in rotation, and I would revive my Glasses icon if I still had it (you know, the "I think glasses are sexy" one?) but still, I'm kinda happy with my icons. Some are gorgeous (generally the ones not made by me) and some are not so technically great (ie. the ones made by me - the JC one is truly shocking *g*), but I like them.

I have my three original icons back (Procrastination, Welcome, and my little President Lex), I have icons that make me laugh (Such as my "Whoosh" icon, which makes me grin every damn time I see it. Man, I can just *hear* Dana saying that.)

The "Waiting for Mr Right" one may go, though, simply because that doesn't really describe me *at all*.
