Got takeaway Chinese on the way home, and Mum and I picked up some videos. I wanted to get 28 Days Later, since it sound cool (even though I'm a total wuss when it comes to horror and gore), but it wasn't there, so I picked up some other overnight's: Confidence, Ripley's Game and Little City.

Ripley's Game was great. I loved it. I liked it even more than the first film, and considering that had slashy Matt Damon, Jude Law and the guy who plays the Commodore in PotC, that's saying something. It was highly intriguing and I loved it. Ripley remains this incredibly detached amoral person, a highly rational and collected man who has a shocking amount of savagery in him when violent. Even married, Ripley's still slashy, and it's just... highly involving film.

As I walked down the aisle of New Releases, I spotted Josh Charles, so I had to get Little City. (Yes, it was made in 1997. How it is a new release over here amazes me.) Still, highly enjoyable film, very funny, and Josh Charles is so adorable it should be a crime. I was very pleased by the end and highly sucked in by the characters.

Although, I have to admit the start made me crack up. Josh is talking to his friend (played by Jon Bon Jovi) about how he thinks his girlfriend is cheating on him, but he needs proof before he confronts her. The friend begs him not to hire a private investigator, and he responds that that's far too expensive. I could have sworn Josh's next line was "If I spent that kind of money on Casey he'd probably still be with me."

Now, this line is half-muttered, and spoken quickly, but I had to rewind it about five times to work out the line was actually "If I spent that kind of money on Kate she'd probably still be with me." But still, it amused me so much.

Confidence was good. Nothing like a good con movie to make you consider a life of crime. *g*

I'm going to go catch up on SV. I need a break from SN, just for a little while.

When I start thinking of yet *another* story idea (instead of working on my numerous wips), it's a sign of a lack of concentration. When I suddenly realise this fic isn't slash or gen, but is actually going to turn out a slashy het, it's a sign to back away from the fandom for a little.

Otherwise, I'm going to end up writing Dana/Dan. Dana and (Oh my god, wtf am I doing?) Dan. I blame it on Josh Charles being too adorable, and my not so secret crush on Dana showing through.

Anyway, while I'm here and obsessing about SN, I'll give a quick rec for [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy's 12 Latin Phrases that Aren't Quo Vadimus aka, Some Ways It Didn't End. Everyone's reccing it, so please let me point out that everything they say about it's true. Different pairings, different endings, wonderful characterisations, brilliant dialogue, and a variety of plots that will make you smile or sniffle. Plus, it comes with twelve mini-covers, that set the tone so well. Written words, gorgeous pictures and characters we all adore. Trust me, you couldn't ask for much more.

(But, I think I'm going to have to start begging [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy to write more... *g*)
