Things that make me happy:
Apr. 18th, 2009 07:26 amHaving awesome friends. Having people that you can say "I'm in a bad mood and the world hates me" and have them listen and then say something that makes you smile.
Keen Eddie. Well, specifically,
gwyn_r's vid, Don't Get Me Wrong. I'm pretty sure I found this while trolling
sdwolfpup's LJ, but it's a lovely little pick-me-up. It's cute, it's funny, and I don't know which moment is my favourite. (The Sandwich of Heartbreak! Monty's incredibly shiny hair! Eddie's reluctant little smiles! The Bentley Club! Them cuddling together in the car!) I have a feeling it's actually the last few seconds, where the song fades out to dialogue (Eddie asking Monty for a kiss).
It's the kind of vid that makes you smile and sing along, and wonder why you don't own Keen Eddie on DVD. (No, seriously, why do I not have that series? I could show it at the next fangirl meeting and we could all swoon over Monty and his "sex lunches", Eddie and his incredibly ugly dog.)
There's also Modern Love by
penknife. It's a Discworld story, but even if you're not a fan, give this story a shot. It's funny and it's utterly awesome, and a really interesting little look at the sexual politics of dwarves. (To explain, in Terry Pratchett's series, the dwarves in the mountains all wear chainmail, mine for gold, grow beards and are all referred to as "he". Even the women. But in some of the books, dwarves that have moved to Ankh-Morpork city have become more daring about stating their gender by wearing skirts and using female pronouns. And this is a really interesting look at that -- and very funny.)
And the last thing that made me smile is this coat. I won't buy it (unless it goes on special. Well, more of a special than it is now) but at the moment, I think that might be the most awesome coat ever made. Ever.
ETA: Links fixed.
