Straight? Heh. Intriguing thing is that my age is currently 21 (so that probably explains why I seem to be having a pretty good life at the moment! *g*) and I did get a lot of gold stars in primary school.
Well, thinking of that random recollection, I'm going to just blame this meme on
01. If you had to choose an alias, what would it be?
Al Gray. Pretty close to my name. (Actually, due to coming late for a test and just filling in my initials, I do have a certificate from the National Math Competition in the name of Al Grayston. *g*)
02. Where were you on 9/11?
Canberra. Woke up to the morning cartoons replaced by News Reports. Took me like ten minutes of sitting there to get over the immediate reaction of "this has got to be some kind of joke". It was odd.
03. What is your ideal vacation?
Well, my upcoming holiday sounds good. 200 queer uni students getting together for a week of conferences during the day, and going out drinking at night. *g*
04. How many first cousins do you have?
I have four cousins on dad's side (over in the UK), and nine on mum's side.
05. How do you take your pizza?
I'm a fan of lots of stuff on it. The Aussie (ham, bacon, egg, and other stuff...) or Supreme or Meatlovers... I'm not too picky, I just like the different tastes.
06. If you could be fluent in any foreign language (that you are not already) what would it be?
Japanese. No need for subtitles when watching anime. The ability to read manga. Plus, it would make me more keen to visit Japan.
07. What is your favorite website?
Livejournal. Other than that, probably Sinfest or Boy Meets Boy becuase I do enjoy those two comics.
08. If you could experience another era of history, which would it be?
Honestly, I like my time. Hmmm... Maybe ancient Rome because they seemed pretty funky (not ancient Greece, because I'm a girl and I would like to leave the house on my own). Maybe Heian Japan if I could be assured of being rich.
09. What is your favorite genre of movies?
Ummm... I'm very fond of Fantasy, although there really aren't many good films out. I like SciFi, and Comedy a lot too, and even watch the occasional Romance (or RomCom's) and Action. My tastes are a bit wide and varied. Just beause something's good doesn't mean I'll like it (English Patient), just becuase it's stupid doesn't mean I won't (Dude, Where's My Car?).
10. If you could have any one superpower, what would it be?
Superspeed. After running this morning to catch the train, I could really do with it in the mornings. As long as I didn't have to be really fit, or get really puffed out doing it. Because that would suck a bit.
11. Can you whistle?
Yes.
12. If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be?
Hmmm... Probably a dolphin, because apart from tuna nets, their life looks pretty peaceful (or, pretty and peaceful). If I was feeling aggressive, a lioness might be a better option, because sometimes I'd like the excuse to just growl at people.
13. Who is your favorite fictional character?
That's a hard one. Possibly Nakago, from Fushigi Yuugi, because I still have a deep and abiding love for him. Hmmm...
No, I'd say it's Aeryn from Farscape. At the moment, there is nothing that I don't love about that gal.
14. Star Wars or Star Trek?
Not a huge fan of either, but probably Star Trek.
15. What is your favorite beverage?
Midori and milk.
16. What brand of toothpaste do you use?
Colgate, generally.
17. What is your favorite professional sports team?
Essendon - AFL. My brother and dad support them, so I support them by extension. (In the way that I couldn't care less about sport...)
18. Are you "indoorsy" or "outdoorsy"?
Let's see. Do I spend all my time either online or watching TV? Yeah, I'm indoorsy.
19. What is your earliest childhood memory?
At three, being taken to hospital after falling from the second storey window. I remember thinking it was really funny because I wasn't hurt but Mum was worried. (In reality, I only stubbed my toe. I'm a lucky girl.)
20. If you could play any musical instrument, what would it be?
Piano. I had enough talent to start to learn it, but not enough determination to stick to it. *g*
21. What's your favorite accent?
I like a lot of accents. At the moment, I'm very fond of Welsh, but I'm generally a sucker for English, Scottish, Irish, American accents. Possibly Canadian, but I can't think of a Canadian accent of the top of my head. (The only accents that bug me are New Zealand (six=sex) and South Africaan...)
22. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Doctor when I was like five (apparently a girl at school had parents who were doctors, and I asked mum whether doctors earnt a lot. A young materialist. *g*) Then, Rumpole of the Bailey and Perry Mason made me want to be a lawyer by the end of primary school.
23. Are you a dog person or a cat person?
Cats. I'm not a pet person, but if I had to choose, it'd be cats.
24. If they were making a movie or TV show of your life, who would you choose to play you?
Hmmm... I don't know if I should choose someone I like, or someone like me. We'll go for the first and say Kirsten Dunst.
25. What is your favorite element (earth, fire, water or air)?
Fire. Dude, I'm a fire sign (Leo).
26. If you could compete in any event in the Olympics (summer or winter) what would it be?
Hmmm... Something that no-one ever associates with Olympic Sport. Table Tennis, maybe?
27. What is your favorite Sunday comic strip?
Do we get Garfeild on a Sunday? I never read the Sunday comics, but that's my fave weekday comic (second fave is Hagar the Horrible).
28. What kind of music do you listen to?
Generally, since I'm a Triple J girl, it's alternative stuff.
29. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?
I always end up eating Weetbix, but I have a very soft spot for Cornflakes with white sugar (because the only time I ever ate them was on school camps).
30. What is your worst habit?
To quote:
She said procrastination was
The cause of all my sorrow.
I don't know what that big word means,
I'll look it up tomorrow.
*looks at clock*
I need to remember that I have actual work to do.
