Write Every Day - Day 1

Our very first official Write Every Day post. I was considering trying to post in the morning, but honestly, I think it will be easier to do it at night (since 9pm is usually when I go to bed and pull out the phone and start writing).

For my Day 1: I wrote about 400 words on my current wip. I'm hoping that I can wrap the whole thing up in one more scene, if I can just figure out what that scene needs to be.

Goals for August: finish, edit and post the current Loki wip, write the ClintCoulson remix fic and get it ready for beta. (It's due in September, so getting it done would be good.) And then maybe go back to the other Loki wip I started with no real endpoint.

What about everyone else? Any specific goals for August? Any words to claim for Day 1?

Hi! I'm Jay. Thank you for hosting August's WED! I'm in SE Asia, so I'll probably be checking in in terms of timezones right after Australia/NZ.

I write mostly in Les Miserables and historical fandoms, but I've recently been bitten by Mass Effect Legendary Edition and have signed up for Mass Effect Big Bang (due 13 Aug), so I'm expecting to be doing much of the final writing and editing on that this month, together with my ME WIP.

Today I did some editing for the WIP - added maybe 100 words total - and final proofreading for my raremales exchange story, to be revealed on 2 August.

Goals for August - try to finish off a couple of short ficlets from way back that I've been trying to turn into slightly longer stories, and maybe have a bash at sorting out a longer story that needs splitting into two parts for posting.

My goal is to finish "Snake Riders" (working title), an accidental novella/novelette that started out a writing exercise and ended up...well, I'm on Chapter Five now, so there's that. Anyway, I think I have maybe another two or three chapters to go? I know where it's going and am sort of clear on where it ends (?) Anyway, that's me.

On Day 1, I added 562 words to "Snake Riders."

Hi, I'm Terri Beth (or Silsbee). I found you through china_shop's month of hosting, and I wanted to join this time around. I'm working on a 75k goal for this year's getyourwordsout challenge, and I'm finding that surrounding myself with other writers is very helpful. Currently, I'm working on a prompt table for 100fandoms, as well as some BTS WIPs. And I'm really hoping to get a ficlet written for the next fan_flashworks challenge.

I need to have at least 2K of my mlbigbang written by August 20 in order to participate in artist matching, so that's my goal for the month, I guess. I'm hoping to hit my stride thoroughly enough in there that I have more than 2K of the minimum-10K project to choose from, though. and ideally I'll have a solid fraction of story draft.

It's a definite skill, outlining, and not one that I really have. I tend to have vague ideas and fly by the seat of my pants, but it comes together okay (as long as it's no longer than 20k, you can kind of fake it).

Yeah, I generally prefer to make it up as I go, trusting in my subconscious to do the maths for me, but theory can be helpful when I get stuck. :-)

I'm in Germany and currently working at various projects and, after serious writing issues last year, am mostly working at re-establishing my writing routines and coddling my sometimes still evasive writing mojo. Part of this is done by writing just for the fun of it and my eyes only, which has grown form a drawer fic to what I now call the Drawer (fic) Chronicles, a multi-part, multi-story opus in my main/current fandom (I'm more or less monofannish), the Tolkienverse, and which is currently at 537k. /O\ I've started this in 2012 and am currently reworkingit as I'm using this not only to write for fun, but also to work at things I'm not good at. Reworking shows me what a long way I've come since then, writing-wise. *g*

I don't know if you've heared yet, but sylvanwitch and I are usually hosting WED together at zwei_hexen, a journal created for that purpose. We're also hosting there a hosting list for everybody's convenience, so people can always check who's currently hosting, check their own previous tallies, or see how others are doing it. As soon as available, I'll put in a link to the final tally of each month, too. I'll do this with your eventual final tally, too, if you have no objections.

Hello! I've got words to report for Day 1, not many of them, but they're there all the same. August goals definitely include trying to clear my plate of exchange assignments and so more work on my big projects for the year. We'll see how it goes with all of that, but I can hope that the inspiration will continue like it is supposed to.
