25th: I did my weekly update post and poked at a WIP for a bit.

26th: Reviewed three sections of my AU WIP, adding 174 words. Am planning to work on another thing later, but thought I'd check in now. :-)

Heh, this was my five day check in, so words over the Day 22-26 period. Definitely much less impressive!

I've been eaten by video game fandom - that old school space opera Mass Effect and its canon m/m pairing, Shepard/Alenko - and I'm writing a reincarnated soulmates chaptered fic for them, wherein Shep and Kaidan are old soldiers from different time periods. I'm just done with the Dark Ages Britain section (where I envision Shep as Arthur, the Pendragon's war duke, and Kaidan as Sir Kay), and am heading next to Macedonia with Alexander the Great. Currently I'm 2/3 into the Theban section, wherein I transplant the Sacred Band a hundred years before to the Battle of Thermopylae. My plan is to hit up the Japanese warring states period and, thereafter, WW2. It's definitely a niche taste, but I'm having lots of fun writing it! OMG, that sounds like a very intimidating story to write! I mean, I have enough on my plate researching one historical period, and writing so many, wow. But I'm glad you're having fun, anyway.

Lol, the historical part is my (our!) sweet spot; it’s the hard SF and writing combat that’s the stretch for me! And the Arthurian and Alexandrian legends are so much a work of myth and fiction that I feel you can take a lot of liberties with the historical accuracy? Anyway, I’m having fun, and am not getting too hung up with the research ;)

About 70 words of draft for a new story for the 25th.

25: okay that bit is now in the correct order and also a couple hundred words longer. these are distinct things because putting it in the right order involved some deleting words, some rearranging words, and almost no adding words.

25th: ~800 words of origfic in a 'verse my friend literally dreamt up. xD and another couple hundred words of chatfic to a discord prompt I don't think anyone expected to get even a sketch of a fic for. :)

Day 25 was a doozy--unexpected stress--but I did manage to add 557 words to that story idea, completing the narrative outline for the first book. I'm thinking it wants to be a duology. The original idea, funnily enough, is the central conflict of the SECOND book. Turns out I needed all of the first book to do justice to the conflict in the second one. Who knew?
