Shoulda, woulda, coulda's
Aug. 8th, 2003 08:13 pmI should be packing right now. I should be getting an early night's sleep. Instead, I'm reading Lanning Cook's latest SV fic.
The weird thing? I'm almost too tired to be reading fic, so it's silly to be up reading.
I had a meat pie for dinner. I think I'll go cook myself up another. *g*

Date: 2003-08-08 03:50 am (UTC)My email is clearly up the spout at the moment. I just read your last email (the one with the header 're Ignore...'), then closed it, and now I can't open it to read it again. The thing I'm fairly sure about though, is that you said you'd sent me an email since I returned your beta: guess what? That's right, not had it!!
Maybe AOL just doesn't work well with Aussie emails, because I'm fairly sure it was you that I sent about 7 identical emails to once because AOL said they hadn't been sent!

Date: 2003-08-08 04:04 am (UTC)I sent you back an email this morning (12 hours ago, roughly) about your reply to the spaces beta. It can basically be summed up as thanks for sending the conversation transcript (because it was bugging me that I didn't know *g*) and that it does need to be a bit clearer. Plus, I liked the conversation. It feels like Clark and Lex, so it's kinda a shame not to use a bit more of it.
For example, I didn't get that it was Lex's new place. Mentally, I was thinking of it as Clark's new place (which put my mental timeline of the fic being set about 10 years in the future, after Clark's started working for the Planet and become Superman). If it's Lex's, I'm thinking of the fic as being set just a couple of years in the future, possibly with Clark in college. Which leads to the question of when do you see it being set?
And, as for Lanning fic? So good. *g*

Date: 2003-08-08 04:32 am (UTC)At first, it was all going to be this little internal piece, and I was going to leave it up to the reader to picture when and where, but as I ended up giving it a setting, I saw it as the latter, as you say, a couple of years in the future, which fits the picture best.

One of the best, and totally gripping.
Thanks for the notes here on the conversation. I'll give it more thought later.
Now, as per usual, I'd better dash - work is calling.
