- I must have watched about four hours of SN yesterday. I'm now watching it as a Dan/Casey meal, with a side order of Natalie/Dana. I think it's something about Sorkin's writing. I find his same-sex friendships far more believable, endearing, complex and committed than his actual relationships.

I would totally agree; I've been watching a lot of Sports Night this weekend as well, and a lot of the Dana/Casey stuff is driving me crazy. Dan/Casey, however, continues to please. :)

I would make an exception in two areas, though: when Casey and Dana are interacting as old friends rather than potential lovers, I love the way you can see the years of caring and the level of comfort they have with each other. I think it's a bit like the CJ/Toby relationship that way, although I'm pretty sure Sorking never intended to write CJ and Toby that way. Maybe it's just that he's really good at writing characters who have long histories and accept each other for what they are. However, most of the time with Dana and Casey he writes all sorts of crazy emotional roller-coaster stuff that drives me nuts, especially in the second season.

Also, though, I love Dan when he's interacting with Rebecca. Maybe it's just because I love Dan, but when he's being sweet to her and courting her I just die. OK, that's pretty much because I love Dan in all instances, I suppose.
