out_there: B-Day Present '05 (Josh and Sam Teamwork)
So, since I had study to do, I decided not to go online until I finished it. Result of the day: I don't need the internet to procrastinate. *g* Spent all day watching videos, and then slept in the afternoon, and couldn't get to sleep last night. Stayed up until about 3am watching Rage.

For those non-Aussies, Rage is an all night music program (goes from about 11pm to about 7am on Friday and Saturday nights). Generally, it has rough themes to the music selection, and I'm guessing last night's theme was non-serious music. Three Weird Al's, wo Tenacious D's, two TISM's (I'm on the drugs that killed River Pheonix) and lots of other fun things. (Like, the Lounge singer versions of Creep and Wonderwall; showing old funky tunes like Ice Ice Baby, Baby got Back and Can't Touch This; Sid Vicous's My Way and Julie Brown's Homecoming Queen's got a Gun, etc...)

I could go on, but I'll try to stop boring you now. Basically, I really enjoyed the music, and actually taped it, and have it playing in the background.

So, basically, it's a current score of:
Housework - NIL
Cooking - NIL
Self grooming - NIL
Study - NIL
Fic writing - NIL
Icon making - NIL
Good night's sleep - NIL
Procrastination - 7 points

Yeah, I'm seeing a slight pattern here. *g*

Today, I have to be out by about 11am, so I decided to quickly get on the 'net, catch up on email, and just maybe try to do the study tonight (or tomorrow night...).

QC bitching. Trust me, I'm just venting from a less than thrilling introduction... )

Well, if worse come to worst, it was only $40 to attend. I can register on Sunday, and just show up to the night-time fun, and spend days online. It's certainly not a bad way to spend a week. *bg*

I'm a HP Multiple Whore )

Apparently, I'm not happy with just one pairing or genre. Considering that I'm not a big shipper of any HP couple, that's pretty fair.

Also, I'm rather proud of myself for this result. I am the Perfect Penis. I feel like a porn superhero... )

I need to study and don't want to. I should also cook, but don't wanna do that either. I'm just going to have in fandom for a while, and remember that even when RL bores me to tears, there's still a place that's pretty damn open-minded, and where the big kerfluffles are generally not quite so drastic and can be easily avoided.

Whatevaa whatevaaaaa..!
Barrel of a Gun--
harsh and gritty, you're feeling the pains of life
and just wish people would leave you be.

Which Depeche Mode song are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Heh. I used to have that album (Ultra). Actually, I like that song a lot. Lyrics )

For some reason, it strikes me as a fairly appropriate Lex song. Hmmm... or, maybe it already is a Lex vid. I should check. I know there is a Lex Depeche Mode vid, but I can't remember which song. Although, in a twisted way, it would also work for a Neo/Matrix vid. *g*

(ETA: I checked. It was Home, not Barrel of a Gun. And, it's now 10.30pm, and I have yet to pick up my book. Instead, I'm rereading Sam/Josh You and Me of the 10,000 wars which has a truly irritating, and fairly true, representation of Amy. *snerk*)

You know, I'd forgotten how much I like You and Me of the 10,000 Wars.

It's got a Josh who's just this side of being a total jerk, and yet still appealing. It's got Sam whose heart's been broken, and yet it shows him if not getting over it, then at least coming to grips with it. It's got Amy who's as annoying as she is in the series, yet oddly vulnerable, so you can't help but feel for, just a tiny bit. It's got a lovely Ainsley, all odd speech patterns and Southern accent, hidden depth and intriguing knowledge. While CJ, Toby, Leo, Charlie and the President are more minor characters, they still ring delightfully true. There's snark, pressure, stress and honest relief.

Even better than that, there's great political plot through this fic. Somebody trying to back our guys into a bad corner is nothing new, but this author deals with it just as the show would. It's only explained through dialogue and reactions, no lengthy or awkward political exposition, and if you don't get it, you can still enjoy the wonderfully complex characters (just as I do with the show).

Kinda spoilery for the fic... )

If you like West Wing fic, go read this. Even if, like me, you've read it before. *g*

Seriously, it's one of my favourite WW fics. (At the moment, the others are "A Campaign Thing" by Candle Beck which makes me hurt for Sam; "Ensourcelled" by Jackie Thomas (sp?) which makes me hurt for both of them; and "Spring Break" by Anne Higgins, which even though it's been Jossed, or Sorkined in this case, and I have an issue with the endearment in the last line, there are still some bits of dialogue that simply delight me because they are so Josh and Sam.)

Oh, and if you're curious, I still haven't done any study, and probably won't tonight. Although, if nothing else, at least the threat of study was enough to make me finally put my clothes away! *g*

"Why Josh?" She says it like she's asking about the beef, and Sam chokes on his wine. He takes longer than he needs to recover, considering the question, considering how honest he should be. He takes long enough that Ainsley prompts, "I mean, he's not the nicest guy in the world. Possibly, he's not in the top billion. Maybe two."

Hee! I love that quote. It's just so... true. *g*

And, in Josh's defense, I also like the quote just a little later in that conversation:

"I'm not sure," he says. He twists the stem of his glass between his fingertips. "The thing is, Josh really never means to be an unkind person. He just... forgets, sometimes."

Which I also have to say is true.

*happy sigh* You know I love both of these guys so much at the moment, right?
