Gormenghast stuff
Jul. 5th, 2003 12:13 amHey, y'all, I forgot to mention that I've finished the first book of Gormenghast. (Yay! Only two to go!) It's got the same feel as the mini-series, vaguely depressing, grotesque and fascinating. Very... unusual.
I must admit, it took me a while to get used to the language and style, but it has got more interesting. Or, maybe it's a case of it's started to involve more Steerpike, and he does intrigued me. (Although, as for foreshadowing, it's really damn obvious that Titus is going to end up with Keda's daughter. Considering I know this when they're both less than two years old, it's kinda... disappointing.)
Well, in the spirit of my literary accomplishment, this is now my wallpaper. Dark, pretty, ruthless Steerpike. *bg*
Oh, and I found the Titus/Steerpike fic Steering Titus. It's my favourite non-crossover Gormenghast fic. My favourite crossover fic is Te's Ethan/Steerpike fic, which still thrills me. (Man, I need a fandom/interest that has more than two fics to it's name. *g*)
And, for something completely different, this is an interesting essay on magic in the Buffyverse. The importance of intent appeals to me.
