(no subject)

I'm sleepy. Was going to head in early to work, but hung around on LJ instead. Oh well, I don't care.

Stayed up late watching Lolita. I think I was right. That seems to be the last film that Jeremy Irons made and appeared as a good actor, instead of a ham (Dungeons & Dragons, anyone? Or how about the Time Machine? Sure, I loved him in both, but such ham performances.). Loved the film. I don't think it quite warranted the 18+ rating, I mean no nudity, and the violence was... well, violent and shocking, but certainly not enough to warrant more than a 15+ rating, I would have thought.

I just loved the film. Lolita came across as a real, if confused and sexually precocious teenager, and Humbert felt like a real guy, albiet one with strong emotional problems. Made me sad, and a little horrified, but sometimes it's wonderful to really be touched by a film; to have your emotions put through the wringer; to hurt and mourn for the characters, and then be able to go back to your everyday life.

*nods* Highly recommended.

Also highly recommended is paperbkryter's Smallville 101 - a guide for beginners. Go read it, and don't make her smack you with a dead halibut repeatedly.

I'm going to see Weird Al tonight!

I realise I've been kinda quiet about that, so I decided to take this chance to shout about it. *g*

Ho-hum.

I'm very lacklustre today. Part of the reason is not getting to bed until 1am (caused by firstly watching all of Lolita and then staying up long enough to get it out of my head so I could sleep) and the other part is just the count-down to Weird Al tonight.

*yawns loudly*

Okay, the big part is the lack of sleep.

It's too cold to go out for lunch, so I sat at the desk and read webcomics. Since I always want to see more of TW in green, this strip mademe snigger for reasons only barely connected to the comic itself. I'm pretty much a non-practicing Catholic but I don't think you need to be to get this and this.

And when it comes to Boy Meets Boy I don't know whether I want to cuddle Cya, shake Skids until he recognises reality again, or just sit back and laugh at the pair of them. (I'm going with my inner bitch today and choosing the third option.)
