Was going to go into work early. Instead, I came online. This is why I shouldn't turn the computer on in the mornings, y'all.

Well, since everybody else is doing it... fill in the blanks, people.

I want Annie to write _____________.
Annie should get a clue and stop writing _________.
_______ would make Annie's fics better.
If Annie writes _________ one more time, I'll kick her ass because it's so annoying.
Annie should rewrite __________ and change _________.
Annie should ____________ in her next fic.
Annie should use the word(s) __________ in her next fic.

I'll give you three guesses who called in sick today... *g*

I'm tired, and screw it. If I go in late today, I'll have the boss breathing down my neck about being late. If I don't go in, I can relax today, get some rest, and actually get something done tomorrow.

See? I'm doing a good thing. I'm fighting presenteeism, one day at a time.

I'm also playing around with my Donna icon, because I'm not too happy with it. However, in the spirit of audience participation, I'll let you decide which is best. *g*

The masses has spoken. By a landslide result, this Donna was preferred by 83% of voters.

Anyway, looking through a few WW pages, and I came across this on the summary of 20 Hours in America (S4, episdoe 2). Cut for quotage )

Because I'm nothing if not productive... *g*

Besides, Charlie's really got game.

It's a combination of one of my favourite Sam shots, and one of my favourite quotes about Sam. *bg* Plus, it's kinda true.

You know, I've realised that not only do I have a soft spot for dorks, I have a big soft spot for sleepy dorks. When did JC become my fave? The scene in "The Reel NSync" where he's just been woken up by the others, and is still completely out of it. That scene won my heart.

Sam being woken up when he's still exhausted, and then falling out of bed trying to get the telephone? One of my favourite scenes of S4. (Plus, Josh being kept up by the President talking about National Parks in S1/S2 is just adorable. "Well, it'd give us somewhere to hide the body." and then the Pres picks up on that comment, and Josh is just so exhausted and genuinely surprised, "I said that out loud?".)

Okay, that rambling doesn't really save this from being just another GIP post.

S3 SV

I've just spent the last four hours catching up on SV. Although I've missed about 12 episodes from the middle of S2, I have just seen upto Extinction. I love SV so much!

Sure, the cheese and the anvils can be difficult to bear at times, but most of it still hits the right emotional note. I love the Kents' and Luthors. I really do like Chloe, Lana and Pete. Plus, it looks like this season really is shaping up to be damn good.

You know, I think I've figured out why I like the Luthor dynamics so much. In the movies and Lois & Clark, I always loved Lex Luthor. In Smallville, Lex himself is rather different (ie. far less evil) than his other incarnations, but he's still a smart, engaging, complex character. However, the scheming and intelligent intimidation that I loved in the classic!Lex are present in Lionel. In many ways, Lionel's far closer to the original Lex Luthor than Lex is.

*happy sigh* You know, I just couldn't be much happier with S3.

Tonight, fandom is an emotional rollercoaster.

First, Slodwick makes up a moving MR icon that makes me dissolve into giggles for the next five minutes. Okay, every time I open this post, it just makes me laugh out loud.

Next, I followed the link to [livejournal.com profile] malus_diabolus's Red Dwarf user pics and had a good snigger at Rimmer. Personally, my fave is the "Help me" one. *bg*

Then, I read Wendi's latest Leo fic. Just for the record, it didn't make me cry. *rubs eyes* What? I got something in my eye. I'm not crying.

And lastly, [livejournal.com profile] seperis posted the next bit of her QaFUS Daphne slash fic and just left me wanting to growl at Justin. Seriously, that boy just rubs me up the wrong way. As does Brian, which is why I don't watch the show. (See, I need to keep repeating this to myself to remind me not to watch. I'm so much happier when I don't.) The trouble with this fic is that although I dislike Justin with a fiery passion, I actually rather like Daphne.

Still, I'd rather be growling over Justin than sniffling over Leo...

Argh! It's almost 11pm. Have I cooked or done anything else productive with my day? No. Instead, I've made myself icons. Now, they're all Sorkin based icons (apart from my Leo one, but he has to stay now).

Oh, [livejournal.com profile] happyminion, I just sent you an email. Let me know if you don't get it.

I can't take two days off for being tired, so I'm going to bed now. Night, all!

Okay, I was going to go to bed. I got distracted by Sunshine Days: Five Things That Never Happened to Sam Seaborn by cgb. It's very good. Go read it if you haven't yet.

As I've sent my Sam Seaborn 5 Things fic off to beta, it's pretty much finished, so I decided to read cgb's fic. I didn't want to read it first because a) I'd get scared off by a damn good writer doing stuff I wanted to do better than I could, and b) I didn't want to read someone else's ideas before I got mine straight in my head.

As it turns out, I'm so very glad I waited until now to read it. I mean, the 3rd, 4th and 5th sections are stories that I never would have come up with or considered. The 2nd section deals with a turning point in Sam's history (the Kensington Oil deal), as does my second section. On the good side, it's done in a very different way, and with different results, but still, highly similar theme.

However, her first section? All about Sam as a kid, and his mom finding out about his Dad's affair. Wanna take a guess at what my first section was? All about Sam as a kid, and his mom finding out about his Dad's affair.

Seriously, how much of a coincidence is that?

It's just highly intriguing that even though we wrote not even communicating with each other, not even knowing each other personally, our first two sections are highly similar. Her's has already been published online and was finished a couple weeks ago, but I remember posting that first section on LJ when I first had the idea for a 5 Things fic a couple months ago. These two ideas have come up in two minds, at roughly the same time, without one person having any influence over the other.

I guess it comes down to the fact that there are some definite turning points in each character's history. Therefore, any author of a 5 Things fic will be tempted to play with these events, because these are the events that had the greatest effect on the character's life. It makes it intriguing that all of the SV 5 Things fics are so very original and different, but that might have more do with the fact that SV is a (dodgy) sci-fi show, so almost anything is possible. As a show, WW is far more grounded in reality, so the AUs are less adventurous, and closer to canon. Either that, or SV writers in general are just happier to think outside the box. *g*
