It's kinda shocking that I almost never get through a day at work without wasting at least an hour on LJ. I probably should be more concerned about it.

My last LJ post got eaten by the World Wide Web, but it was just random mutterings about Firefly. (The opening title scene reminds me of Farscape. I have no idea if the funky glowing text effect is actually used on Farscape, though.)

My favourite characters, in tiers of love:

I *love*: Mal (cool as a cowboy!), Simon (so prissy, so geeky, so obviously gonna be a fave!), Inara (Mmmmmmm...sexy!) & Zoe (Mmmmmmm...and damn cool!)

I love: Wash (the dinos!), Jayne (the love of violence!), Kaylee (she's cute, and fun, and I have a strong belief in Inara/Kaylee)

I really like: The Preacher (he's funky, but just doesn't appeal as much as the others)

As for River, I haven't really seen her yet, but I'm wary of her. She's brunette, pretty, thin, willowy, supersmart and rather crazy. I'm sending up a brief prayer to Joss, "Please stop reminding me of Fred." (If she becomes more active and kills the Mal/Simon vibes, I may not forgive her.)

So, yeah, took me a while to get around to starting, but I'm enjoying it. *hugs [livejournal.com profile] hnix for sending it*

ARAGORN opens his arms to BOROMIR. Their furry faces scraping against one another in a passionate kiss, they roll over on the turf with a clang of hidden weaponry.

*snerk* Okay, time for a couple funny recs.
The Fellowship of the Ring, All-Slash-All-the-Time version
just made me giggle. it's silly, very silly, but rather fun.

And, even better than pure comedy? Musical comedy!

The Sound of Omens is The Sound of Music, Good Omens style. Crowley/Aziraphale, Hastur/Ligur, singing and wimples. You've got to love it.

AZIRAPHALE:
Pretty young boys in waistcoats and nice sashes,
A little light kiss on my nose or eyelashes
Running up mountains, and skipping through springs
These are a few of my favourite things,
Sweet little puppies and whiskers on kittens
Too much dessert and rare first editions,
Getting plastered with demons and stretching my wings,
These are a few of my favourite things!

CROWLEY: I’d ask why you were singing to my children in your bedroom in the middle of the night, but I really don’t want to know.

*giggles*

ETA: Just had to quote this:
CROWLEY: Fraulein! I’m sorry, you’re not really fired. I’ve been more of a bastard than usual since my dear wife died.
AZIRAPHALE: How awful for you, you poor dear. How did she die?
CROWLEY looks shifty.
CROWLEY: We, um, won’t go into that at the moment.

Living Dangerously by Andraste is delightful. This is a wonderful look at Andrew (BtVS) and seeing Andrew come to terms with himself. No one can deny that Andrew was a wonderful high point to S7, and this fic is very believeable, utterly normal, and very sweet, all at the same time. It's great to be able to read an optimistic, but relatively realistic, Andrew POV, that acknowledges that he's the type of geek we adore.

... the way he insisted on sharing a bed with Jonathan in Mexico even when they could afford better. The mysterious interest in carpentry he's developed since meeting Alexander Harris. The way he's been slashing Spike and Principal Wood in his head on a nightly basis. Not to mention how he uses up an hour of his TV allocation on 'Smallville' every week even though people always complain.
