Firefly ramblings

It's kinda shocking that I almost never get through a day at work without wasting at least an hour on LJ. I probably should be more concerned about it.

My last LJ post got eaten by the World Wide Web, but it was just random mutterings about Firefly. (The opening title scene reminds me of Farscape. I have no idea if the funky glowing text effect is actually used on Farscape, though.)

My favourite characters, in tiers of love:

I *love*: Mal (cool as a cowboy!), Simon (so prissy, so geeky, so obviously gonna be a fave!), Inara (Mmmmmmm...sexy!) & Zoe (Mmmmmmm...and damn cool!)

I love: Wash (the dinos!), Jayne (the love of violence!), Kaylee (she's cute, and fun, and I have a strong belief in Inara/Kaylee)

I really like: The Preacher (he's funky, but just doesn't appeal as much as the others)

As for River, I haven't really seen her yet, but I'm wary of her. She's brunette, pretty, thin, willowy, supersmart and rather crazy. I'm sending up a brief prayer to Joss, "Please stop reminding me of Fred." (If she becomes more active and kills the Mal/Simon vibes, I may not forgive her.)

So, yeah, took me a while to get around to starting, but I'm enjoying it. *hugs hnix for sending it*

Yay! I love that show so much. I can't wait until Sin's DVDs arrive. And I like River, personally, but then I also liked crazy!Spike, so. *g*

And I have a couple of recs for things you might not have read (no Mal/Simon, though, sadly): Tetchy (http://debchan.com/misc/tetchy.html), by debchan, Simon/Jayne - fabulous. Seriously. Even if the pairing makes you want to run screaming, you should read this. I read it when I'm in the mood for something guaranteed to cheer me up. Feather Stitch (http://www.squidge.org/~peja/firefly/FeatherStitch.htm), by Ana, Kaylee/Inara. There's a sad shortage of K/I, but I love this story. And Mangoes On Boros (http://firefly.populli.org/archive/4/mangoeson.shtml), by dirty diana, is nice too.

Oooh, well, I will check those recs out. I still like the idea of Mal/Simon, but I really can't deny that Simon and Jayne spend a lot of time annoying each other, and that's always a sign of something. *g*

Well, the psychic/crazy talk is reminding me far more of Druscilla (Yay, Druscilla!), and after two eps she's definitely joined the ranks of "Really Liked".
