Troy

Saw Troy last night.

First of all, Troy was too damn popular. We went to see the 7.30pm show, but missed a train, and got there at 7.20pm. So, we figured we'd get tickets to the 8.30pm, which was sold out. So, we went for the 7.30pm, which only had eight tickets left in the front row. Needless to say, from that angle, Brad Pitt's thighs were huge.

So, I saw it but I was so close that a lot of the battle scenes were just a blur of action to me, and I couldn't actually focus on the entire screen at one time.

Oh, and the Eric Bana issue? Not such an issue while he's putting on the pseudo-American accent. I don't think he's incredibly 'omg-hot!', but he had the best body of the three main leads, and was my favourite character in the film. (Second favourite was Odysseus, but that's not surprising. What was surprising was that he was my second-fave before I realised he was Odysseus.)

Much random rambling about Troy. )

Still, great film. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

*bounces*

The Remix Redux 2 fics are up! Dude, someone remixed my "Five Pictures that were Never Taken".

Dude, it *rocks*!

Five Pictures That Were Never Taken (Overexposed Remix). Same five headings, but five different pictures - five little AUs that I love. Oh, I'm just totally bouncing in my chair and clapping my hands for joy. This is too cool!

I'd quote bits, but it would just ruin it. Go read it. It's *so* cool!

ETA: And, it deals with the same basic ideas in my five AUs, Sam not dying, Casey and Lisa not divorcing, Dana getting married, Jeremy's parents not splitting up and Dan & Casey being together. Dude, this is *so* cool!

I am incredibly amused that the Sports Night remixes are all slashy, and the West Wing remixes are all het. *sniggers*

Well, to be honest, the SN remixes aren't completely slash, but the Casey/Dan slash sneaks into all three. And I'd recommend you you go read all three right now.

Firstly, there's Five Pictures That Were Never Taken (Overexposed Remix) which rocks, but I mentioned that before. *g*

Secondly, there's (I Can Turn You) Inside Out, a highly interesting remix of Oro's Outstanding. It's Dan/Sally but the slash still creeps into it:

And you want to hurt her, want to fuck her, want to take back what she's taken from you--No. From Dana. Never from you. You never admit -- not to Dana, not to Abbey, not to Lisa, and not even to yourself -- that you want Casey.

(tall and beautiful, milk-fed Midwestern boy, everything you're not and never will be, graces you with his presence, his friendship. Not right to want more, want him, his body next to yours, moving over yours, skin on skin and sweat-soaked sheets and jerking off with his name on your lips. Not yours. Never yours.)

I tell you, that last paragraph does things to me, things that shouldn't be repeated in mixed company.

Thirdly, there's Who Writes Letters Anymore? (Reality Check Remix) which is a remix of To Casey, On His Thirty-Fifth Birthday. Okay, hands up who *loves* To Casey, On His Thirty-Fifth Birthday.

*looks at all the raised hands*

Exactly. The original fic rocks in that bittersweet way (the wanting and not having that just hurts), so I was highly doubtful of anyone being able to remix it successfully. This unknown author remixed it successfully and left me sniffling. It's a perfect heartbreaker of a story.

The new doc (Beryl Goldfarb, there was a name no one was ever going to be calling out in excitement or joy) had told him to write a letter, and he was going to. He was. But not now. Not in the middle of the day, right in the middle of a goddamned script, sitting in his office with the reason for the letter chuckling at his own supposed wit only feet away.

*hugs her fandom* I love my slashy boutique fandom.

Meme!

Nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] jmtorres:

I want anyone and everyone who reads this to post in here something they would LIKE to do with me SOMEDAY.

Then post this in your journal to find out what I want to do with you.

ETA: And, guess which Monty Python character I am? the Minister of Silly Walks )I was always particularly fond of that Minister, you know. *practices silly walks*

Crowley decided that if he was going to be taken for a bookshop proprietor, his sort of bookshop would be far more like a Bentley and far less like a second-hand nineteen seventies Mini with mended cigarette burns in moldy tweed upholstery.

Ordinary People (The Anything but Ordinary Remix) is a remix of Daegaer's Ordinary People (Y'know, the human AU, with Ezra and Tony?). Wonderful fic, great read. There's a couple people on my FList that will love it as much as I did.

I'm avoiding study. I have spent all weekend on the computer telling myself I'll start the study after I read this fic/write this pairing/reply to emails/read LJ/read this fic again.

I'm also listening to the Casey/Dana song of True Longing ("She will have her way" by Neil Finn) just because I'm listening to Neil Finn. Oddly enough, it was the first song to come on when I randomised the list.

Well, it's only another hour of procrastination, and then the Sunday movie and bed. The weekend will end with a whimper. Although, on the good side, there's an Italian film on SBS tonight that I want to tape and watch tomorrow - Death in Venice. I remember loving the book, but I don't know how well all that homoerotic longing will translate to screen.

*sigh*

So, I could study now or... I could make myself a new icon...? Yeah, that sounds like a possibility. *g*

From the Queens of the Stone Age song, "Go With The Flow".

(Oh, Signe, if you can get this quote on a prettier SN icon, I will love you. Well, love you more. *g*)
