Novel rec: How to Buy a Love of Reading
Jul. 24th, 2012 03:15 pmI'm not a huge reader these days -- well, most of my reading is slashfic and reading published books is much rarer -- but I just finished a book that I really enjoyed. How to Buy a Love of Reading was a book I picked from a library shelf because the blurb sounded fun enough to try, and was sucked into it very quickly.
It's a book that I really, really enjoyed. It's been a while since I've emotionally committed to a book, then read to the end and felt really *satisfied*. (Admittedly, I read a lot of tie-in novels and probably my book choices aren't the deepest or most meaningful, but it's been a while since I cared about a published story as much as I care about a fic plot.)
I really enjoyed it, cover to cover, and the ending felt right and organic. So, y'know, if you're curious and have some spare reading time, give it a go. You might find yourself absorbed pretty quickly.
