out_there: A present for my 25th birthday (SGA: Reading Rodney by Celli)
I am a sucker for a good misunderstanding story, but the trick is keeping it believable. There are some assumptions you jump to that are actually very hard to disprove without asking outright and this gets it right. (I say this as someone who has worked in an office and had a casual nodding/chatting acquaintance with people and then realised that there's no polite way to ask for someone's name six months later.)

I loved Dean in this -- how hard he's trying for his family, how much he loves Sam, how deeply he falls for people and how his own sense of self-preservation just really isn't there -- he's such a good guy. And Cas is formal and earnest and quietly funny. He's a little odd, definitely different from anyone else Dean knows, but he's so attractive when seen through Dean's eyes. It's a sweet little AU and just lovely.
