I love a good fairytale retelling, and this one is interesting. A nice little twist on Cinderella, and the characterisation felt perfectly right to me. Mycroft was Machiavellian in his schemes but genuinely trying to do his best for Sherlock; Sherlock was temperamental and dramatic, but bright and interesting. I especially loved the tone between Sherlock and Mycroft. Both happy to snipe at each other and tease, but both of them actually care for the others' happiness.
And Lestrade was so easy to love, smart and charming, down to earth and humble, a genuinely good, decent man who happens to be terribly attractive. Through in a bit of humour, a bit of noble self-denial, and a looming deadline, and I'm a happy reader.
