Getting back to normal

Well, I'm feeling better. The cold I had before I went into surgery is still hanging around, but within a couple of days I should be back to my normal, almost chirpy, self. (Which is a good thing as I start the new job on Tuesday.) I'm still not up to hours of 'net surfing, so I'll catch up on everyone's intriguing entries some other time.

In RL news, my brother returns to Canberra on Saturday. It was a relief that he was down in Victoria with us through the whole bush fire fiasco, even though his suburb wasn't very near the affected areas. After completing her teaching degree, and spending most of December looking for a job, Mum has landed a fulltime position teaching Drama/English/SOSE. It starts on Tuesday, so Tuesday night we'll probably both be wired and exhausted.

In the last week I've managed to watch SB (the DVD) and Poolhall Junkies, and I currently have Sweet November waiting on DVD. (Thank heavens for my brother's PS2!) So far, I have mentally composed an essay on the idea that Adam is the most liked SB character because he is the only character that truly goes through a transformative change, and figured out the plots to two SV fics and one fic for Poolhall Junkies (I'm dying to slash Danny and Chris, and I could probably get it to work too). On one hand, I think that painkillers are pretty good for my creative side, but they do leave me too wrecked to type, so it evens itself out.

And after a week of mainly bedrest (or couch-rest), I still haven't finished American Gods...

I'm fine. I went in to get all four of my wisdom teeth removed. On the good side, it's good to know that I don't have too much trouble recovering from the anesthetic. After a week of painkillers, and acting like a dying swan, I'm back to normal.

...On the bad side, my attention span for the net was seriously impaired...
