Okay, for a day that started off badly, I've really scored on the presents. *g*
First,
celli gave me LJ time, more icons and an SN partying icon. Then, I got this Sam icon from
oxoniensis. Now, I've just come back from visiting
vissy.
Not only did she give me a CDRom with a full sized version of Slumber for me to check out, she also gave me a copy of The Gods Hate Kansas by Joseph Millard. I mean, it has SV connotations because I used the title for an SV fic (my answer to Celli's taxfic challenge and the pulp title challenge), but it's far more SV than that. It's all about meteors crashing in Kansas! *giggles insanely*
And, while I was at Vissy's bookstore, I also bought a copy of Henry Kuttner's Mutant. I had to. It's a book that I could just imagine little Lex reading. Seriously, this is the back cover (word for word, with their use of italics):
"MUTANT
People called them BALDIES!
...a race of mutants, hairless with egg-like skulls and lashless eyes...
...a race hated by normal human beings, who hunted them with animal ferocity and killed them with religious fervour...
...a race that was even split amongst itself with some that wanted to establish rule by mutants...
...a race that had an extraordinary talent, the power of telepathy!
So the baldies disguised themselves with wigs and waited for the day when there would be enough of them to stop their persecutions by normal men!"
How could I resist that? Bald mutants! I haven't even picked up a book in months, and today I'm going home with two scifi books because they remind me of SV. *bg*
*wallows in her pathetic fan status*
Oooh, also, I plan tobrainwash encourage Vissy to love Utena. Just need to find where I put those discs...
