Was going to go outside and read in the sun. Unfortunately, I didn't. Instead I caught up on LJ.

I love my Mum. I do. I love her even when she hears my alarm go off at 6.30am and obviously takes that as an invitation to start a conversation. Really. *groans* Well, looking at this logically:

Pros:
- Home cooked meals most nights, that are ready when I come home.
- There's a far more homey feeling to my place now.
- It's been thoroughly spring cleaned (and gardened) without me having to do it.
- Intereesting conversations.
- Goodnight kisses and "hello" hugs. (I really shouldn't leave those off the list. I like those a lot. *g*)

Cons:
- Can no longer get home, heat up dinner, and relax in front of the TV/go online. Now, come home, have dinner and talk, watch TV and talk in the ads, and finally get to bed.
- Being offline! *grrrr* I mean, Mum's been playing around on the internet and email while I'm at work (Lavalife type thingy), but when I'm home it's instant "let's talk" mode. Or, when the computer's on, it needs to a communal thing, because she wants to show me the email she sent and ask how to do the attachments.
- The only time I get online by myself is weekend mornings (before noon). Otherwise, Mum has this ability to make me feel guilty about it.

*sighs* Yeah, my only real bitch is that suddenly instead of being allowed to spend hours online and go to bed when I feel like, I now have to socialise with a real human being. It sounds really damn selfish and petty when I say it like that, but it's true.

Watched Six Feet Under last night. You know, I think that's one of the few shows that I watch without criticising. Technically, there is absolutely nothing that I want to change, and all of the characters feel real.

It was the episode where Clair finds out she's pregnant. Lisa's still missing and there's three funerals happening at the Fischers. There was a gorgeous scene of David and Clair coming up to support Nate. Nate opens the door, and there they are. David says something like, "We thought you could do with the company", and Nate just pulls them both into a hug and breaks into tears. It was so moving. A simple little scene, but as Nate kissed each of them on the cheek and they hugged him back, I'm just totally melting and going "Awwwwww. Awwwwww. Awwwwww..."

Man, loved that scene. (Loved the rest of the episode too, but absolutely adored that scene.)

I finished reading The Gods Hate Kansas. For such a pulp scifi book, it wasn't too bad. Sure, the start was a little like introducing me to Mary and Marty Sue, and the end was so twee that I literally laughed out loud, but the middle was good. Sometime, I'm going to have to type up a few quotes so you guys can laugh with me.

I'm now reading "Mutant" and it's giving me Luthor fic ideas. This is what I have so far...

Lois stood beside the counter, casually leaning on one arm and paid for the biography in her hand. She looked over at Clark, but he was keeping a low profile, stalking the science fiction shelves. She laughed warmly at the shop owner’s weak joke, and politely eased herself out of the conversation.

Clark had been doubtful when she’d suggested checking out the local shops. The body had shown up a block from here, but the credit card receipts found around it suggested a shopping spree. So, they’d spent all morning checking out the stores in the area, with Clark complaining that this was a waste of time. But she’d just found the missing clue, provided by the nosey owner of a second-hand bookshop. She couldn’t wait to tell Clark just how wrong he’d been.

She sidled over to Clark with a smug grin. “Hey, Clark?” she asked smoothly, but Clark seemed lost in the tatty paperback he was holding. His head was bent, letting the dark hair hang in his eyes, and he was pouting slightly, the way he always did when concentrating on something. She could never decide if that expression was cute, irritating or sexy as hell. She waved a hand in front of his face and sniped, “Earth to Clark?”

He blinked back at her dazedly, then smiled apologetically. Clark Kent, the loveable dork of the Daily Planet. “Sorry Lois. You were saying?”

“I was gloating over the fact that I’m right. And you, once again, are wrong.” She grinned.

Now she had his full attention. “What did you find out?”

“I’ll tell you when we’re back in the office.” Gloating wasn’t a problem, but talking about it where anyone could overhear might be. Clark knew that as well as she did. “Ready to go, Smallville?”

“Sure.” He nodded, but didn’t put the book back.

She looked pointedly at the book in his hands. “Planning on taking that with you?”

“No. It’s just…” He trailed off as he turned the book over, staring at the back. “I used to have a copy of this book. A… close friend gave it to me.” Clark swallowed tensely and fiddled with his thick glasses.

Being a good reporter meant knowing when to ask the right questions. Being a good friend meant knowing when not to ask. “Is it any good?”

“Um… actually, it is. A bit dated, but still a good read,” Clark said, as he placed the book back on the shelf.

“Then pass it over, Smallville. I could do with a good read.”

Yeah, it's a Luthor fic, but so far I've just got the Lois/Clark section written out. My mind works in strange ways. *g*

Okay, that icon just kept me sniggering. Hee!

*insert Eeeeevil laughter here*

Well, this way, I'd know I'd be able to find the snippet again. The last SV WIP I worked on has mysteriously vanished from my harddrive, so LJ's a better place to keep it. (Plus, I can work on it at work, and still post. *g*)

I plan to write four (maybe five) scenes of the book being gifted. First Grandpappy Luthor to Lionel, then Lionel to Lex, then Lex to Clark.

It's by starlight1221 - I fell for it straight away. It's the expressions on their faces that makes it.

Aww, what a shame! I do hope it turns up sometime.

I have the feeling this story is going to make me all weepy. Especially if Clark and Lex have rifted, as it sounds from the snippet you posted.

It's been missing for about 6 weeks. Oh well. It wasn't much, just Clark convincing Lex to take him and Pete to the Metropolis fair, but I can't be bothered starting it again.

I'm taking it as a sign from the heavens that the fic would have sucked. *g*

Not weepy. I don't think. It's just, we start with Lois, then flashback to Lionel, Lex and Clark getting the book. If it helps, think of them not being rifted. The first section is Lois' POV, and just because she thinks that Clark can be sexy, doesn't mean that Clark isn't happily (secretly) dating Lex Luthor.

*rolls eyes at self* Oh yeah, we can tell I have a very clear idea of my stories while I writing them.
