I guess an update on a sporting injury would work...

Well, a last minute comeback/score change, or a trade just under the trading deadline, or yeah, "So-and-So has announced he'll play tonight, despite his doctors' feeling he's not ready to come back yet." Or a coach firing. Or a death.

For a show that's not techincally about sports, you'd think it wouldn't be much of a handicap, but for those little background details, yeah, some knowledge helps. Especially of American sports in this case, as Dan and Casey are as baffled by the appeal of soccer and cricket as most Americans are. *g*
