Celebrate good times... C'mon on!

Yep, I am once more home and among the online. *g*
*hugs FList*
The holiday cruise was *great*! Absolutely great. Although, after spending almost a fortnight on a boat, my senses keep trying to tell me that Melbourne also sways and rocks... An odd sensation, to say the least.
Well, it was generally a non-fannish holiday (apart from the Casey/Dan fic sitting half written in my suitcase). A few things made me think of fellow fans and long for the internet, but generally the lack of online access wasn't a problem.
If you're curious, the fannish things were the "Fright Night" performance by the dancers, whose starting song featured Harry Potter and Hagrid amongst the fantasy cast (which made me think of
iibnf most of all) and the last lunch made me think of the popslashers on my list, as I realised that after a fortnight of more formal or mellow background music, the music played at lunch was all boybands. Like, ten songs in a row, sung by boybands. *snerk*
Oh man, my FList is up to 875?! Youch. Time to skim read. *g*

Hey, would you be able to make it into melbourne for a weekend gathering sometime late Jan/early feb? I'm thinking of hosting a movie night... (at the moment, it may be Rob Lowe films, since I want to watch "View from the Top", terrible as it will be...)

Date: 2004-01-08 08:56 pm (UTC)I might be able to, but I'm having my wisdom teeth out (curse them!) in late Jan, so I might not be up for solid foods/speaking/doing anything without painkillers, so I'll let you know. :)

Aw, babe! That's painful. What date late Jan? Maybe we can do it before then. You probably won't be up to leaving the house. I know my first week was spent in PJs, popping pills, watching TV and sleeping.
Trust me, I watched all of S1 Angel during the recovery period after getting my wisdom teeth out. Although there's a few scenes I can remember well, I think most of it got lost in the haze of painkillers. *g*

Date: 2004-01-09 06:36 am (UTC)At the end, I'm not so sure. I mean, when I read it, it seems like Casey's all supportive friend guy, but deep-down in my head, he keeps reading as Mr Smug Superiority...
I'm having Casey-Issues. Heh.
It's up in my LJ, if you wanna make up your own mind about it.

Date: 2004-01-08 05:19 pm (UTC)I think it could work, too. Set in Washington, late S4 or early S5 (haven't seen either so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by screwing with canon), after the fall of Sports Night. The start would be something like....

The first time Josh saw him, he honestly didn't take much notice. Josh was too busy being annoyed at the crowd in the gym. He knew there was a reason he didn't bother going to the gym at this time of evening. At 6pm, there was always the rush of office workers, finishing their working day with exercise.
This meant that instead of being able to spend a quiet hour moving his body and letting his mind work on autopilot, he was looking for an empty treadmill. Of course, they were all taken and he'd just wasted 10 minutes of his hour.
When the guy at the end started to slow down, Josh wandered over and waited for him to finish. As he waited, he watched. The guy was taller than Josh, and slightly wider across the shoulders. His light brown hair was styled into some short preppy cut but there was something about his face that seemed vaguely familiar. Something about the strong jaw and boy-next-door features.
Breathing deeply, the guy stepped off the treadmill and caught Josh staring at him. He smiled tightly and nodded to Josh. "Can I help you?"
"Finished with the treadmill?" Josh asked as he gestured at the row of equipment currently being used.
"It's all yours," the guy said, stepping aside with a grin.
"Thanks," Josh said and the guy nodded and picked up his towel. He took a few steps away and then Josh called out, "Hey?"
"Yeah?" The guy said, turning back around to Josh.
"Do I know you from somewhere?"
"I don't think so," the guy said with a shake of his head, and disappeared into the change rooms.
Josh shrugged and then turned his attention to correcting the treadmill settings. He could have sworn he'd seen that guy somewhere before.

Okay, that start came easier than expected. It always does when you're procrastinating about other fics that you should work on. *g*

Date: 2004-01-08 04:44 pm (UTC)Now I'm back, I just wish I had either more time, quicker reading skills, or a second body to be able to catch up on everything I missed.
