ETA: Because I'm all about the little fics today, I present a fic in support of the Sanctity of Ninjas Week. (Besides, Seth's the kind of adorable geek who would support it. *g*)

The Coolest Fighters
“Coolest fighters in the world,” Seth announces suddenly. Ryan’s noticed Seth has a way of starting a conversation halfway through, and assuming that Ryan’s heard the rest of the discussion that was only in Seth’s head.
He turns to look at Seth, but Seth’s staring at the TV screen, holding the PS2 controller tightly in his hand. “What?” Ryan asks, but Seth doesn’t look away from the CG fighting. It’s a brand new game, Onimusha something, so it’s surprising that Seth has even remembered there’s someone else in the room.
“Ninjas,” Seth says, as if that should explain it all. “They are the coolest fighters. I mean, there’s the swords, the stealth, the cool jumps. Not to mention various potions, and the ability to walk across dried leaves.”
“Okay,” Ryan says, and wonder of all wonders, Seth pauses the game, carefully places the console on the carpet and turns to face him.
“You can’t sound so disbelieving about ninjas. They’re cool. They’re deadly, and effective, and just… really cool. This isn’t, like, some band that you’ve never heard of. It’s ninjas. A fine American tradition,” Seth pronounces, then pauses with a sheepish grin. “Well, apart from the fact that they come from Japan, obviously.”
Ryan tilts his head slightly and smiles. “I didn’t say they weren’t cool.”
“No, but you were distinctly… unenthusiastic about them,” Seth says, waving his hands in broad enthusiastic gestures. “They are totally cool. And deadly. There is a sacred place reserved for them in the subconscious of every guy.”
Ryan smirks at that comment. “If you say so.” Ryan shouldn’t goad him, but it always ends in a display of geek bravado that’s almost… adorable.
“There is,” Seth replies, really warming to the topic, arms flying around with his words. “There are countless American minds warped by Kurosawa films and good games. There is a respect for the ninja, for his, or her, truly amazing skills. For their willingness to risk death for their leader, to kill in a really cool and gory fashion, and to just be all-around bad-asses. They are the coolest warriors.”
“Okay, they’re cool,” Ryan acknowledges with a nod of his head.
“Good. Glad you agree,” Seth says, turning back to his game. “They’re totally cool.”
