Tiger Prince rec
Feb. 22nd, 2004 01:53 amHave just finished reading the SV AU fic (The Hart and The Lion for those of you not noticing my last three posts on it). I think it took me about 11 hours to read, all in all, but I enjoyed it. And the only recurring character who didn't appear in it was Sam Donovan. (I don't think. Did I miss him?)
You know, it's left me with an urge to go read The Tiger Prince again. For those of you who don't know, it's an original/fantasy slash piece, that's very involving. It's been rec'ed as:
"Saladin, the Tiger Prince, is none too thrilled when his father sends him to deal with a report of a strange creature in the mountains. A Human, a true oddity in a world of Admir (human-like in appearance, but with the ability to become animals). And Dual is truly special: a beautiful amnesiac that Sala finds far too appealing for his own good. But things are always more complicated than that. Add in the faithful best friend, the scheming younger brother, the innocent *other* younger brother, and a single-minded guard, and you have a story that just begs to be read over and over. So go on, and do just that!"
What I really like is the way that it's so complex and was a collaborative effort, in that Sahari wrote it, but the ideas were brainstormed. It isn't a story about one slash couple, it's really a story about three (and my favourite pair wasn't even the main pair). Each of the younger tiger brothers pairs up by the end. *g*
The main page not only has a link to the story, it also has links to descriptions of each of the characters and backgrounds (in case you get confused), descriptions of the politcal standing of the families and the different clans, and links to fanfic and fanart based on the story.
*goes to skim to her favourite bits*

Date: 2004-02-21 07:03 am (UTC)Mind you, I didn't recognise Luthor Sachs until the third last chapter, so I'm not the most observant fangirl.

Date: 2004-02-21 07:05 am (UTC)And I don't know if I've seen Sally. But I haven't read the whole thing. My brain shorted out and it stopped making sense.
Say, have you read the Seduction of a/the Desert Prince? It's a huge Highlander AU of similiar beginnings...
Re:
Date: 2004-02-21 07:08 am (UTC)*snerk* Okay... Sally's Dan's father's primary/main/head wife. She's scheming!
And, no, I'm not into Highlander, so I haven't read that.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-21 07:10 am (UTC)Are we supposed to recognize the rest of Dan's relatives? Because I sure don't outside of the dead Sam.
Ah well, 'sgood Desert master/slave stuff.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-21 07:15 am (UTC)They're "cousins", but I'm guessing that's kinda honorary...
Dauid = Dave
Guill = Will
Kris = Chris
Amonst the wives, we have the obvious:
Salaeh = Sally
Rebekah = Rebecca
N'tale = Natalie
Aliose (Dan's young wife) = Louise (Jeremy's deaf sister)
Gourd (Aloise's slave) = Gordon
I think that's all amongst the Rydell household.
Re:

Of course, I started reading this thing at like 2am and my mental state has just gotten fuzzier since then.
Like all the people in Casey's little army team, the ones that go with 'Olle'? Sure I should know those too, but do I? Naaaah.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-21 07:21 am (UTC)Hee! Is it wrong that I'm just suddenly imagining bunches of guys wearing that on a t-shirt?
Ummm... I don't think so. Or, if they were SN people, I didn't recognise them.
Re:
Date: 2004-02-21 07:23 am (UTC)Dude, I want a t-shirt that says that. With little army men with cool ties on it.
Re:
