I am far too easily excited by entertainment news.
First off, they're making a motion picture of the Phantom of the Opera musical? Oh my god. *squee*
So, at the end of this year, they'll be no new LotR to look forward to, but there may be Phantom of the Opera?
I have such a love for this musical. I mean, I've seen it twice in the theatres (which on my budget is a lot), I used to have the tapes of the original cast recording with Micheal Crawford. I used to be able to sing the entire thing from start to finish (I'm not claiming I could sing it well, but I knew it off by heart). I could probbly still remember most of the words.
And, Evita? I think that was a great movie musical, so there's a great deal of hope that this will be good as well. *bounces*
I'm guessing Minnie Driver's playing Christine. I hope she can sing. I really hope she can sing. I mean, it's Christine!
It's Joel Schumacher directing, so it could be good. I'm going to concentrate on the fact that he has directed some very good films lately, and ignore the later Batman films. Although not all of his films have been great, I've enjoyed them... especially "The Lost Boys" and "St Elmo's Fire".
And, that's a great segueway to my second topic, which is that there's talk of Rob Lowe in a new series.
ezust posted some impressions of it here. I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I am anyway. Fingers crossed, this series will actually do well enough to be screened over here...

Okay, I need to stop bouncing. I've got months to go before this is released...

Date: 2004-03-02 09:20 pm (UTC)Oh, I learned to pay attention to who directed movies because of Joel Schumacher, after Lost Boys and Flatliners, but before Batman Forever.
December. Decemberdecemberdecember. Er, December (most likely) in the States. Don't know where anywhere else. *g*

Date: 2004-03-02 09:28 pm (UTC)Nononononononono. We are thinking *December*. We are not thinking about the fact that it may take *months* to be screened over here in Australia. I experienced that with PotC.
*sigh*
On the good side, it's not as if I can really be *spoiled*, so neither hell nor high water will stop me from wading hip-deep into fannish reactions.
