SN Drabbles: Everyday Sins

I missed the deadline for this week's challenge on
sn100, so I'm posting it here.
Challenge Number Twenty-Seven: The seven deadly sins
Everyday Sins
Wrath
As far as Elliot's concerned, there are some lines you do not cross.
When Dana suggests that she might be going nuts, you don't provide examples of her insanity. When Dan complains about Rebecca, you don't point out that he should be over it by now. Likewise, when Casey's in a bad mood, you don't tell him that he's ruining the show. And you never insult their professional abilities.
However, Elliot doesn't see anything wrong with watching the tempers explode when they say that to each other. On a Tuesday, there's nothing better to do and these fireworks are free.
Avarice
When Dave wanders through the control room, there's a $20 bill sitting under the control desk. He checks his wallet, but it's not from there. He's pretty sure he didn't have any money in his pockets, so it's doubtful that it's his.
The problem is that it could be anyone's.
They've spent the night betting on the Commonwealth Games, so a lot of money has changed hands tonight. There's also been quite a bit of drinking, so it's possible that whoever dropped it won't even realize they have.
Picking it up, Dave goes to get a couple pizzas for everyone.
Sloth
Dana thinks about getting out of bed.
She has washing to pick up from the dry-cleaners, dishes sitting in her sink from last night (and the night before, if she's being brutally honest), and there's a hundred little things she never gets time to do.
She has time now. It's her night off, her first night off in a week, but she's tired. She should spend the day running around, doing those chores, using her time efficiently.
She rolls away from the midday sun peeking through her bedroom window. Grinning like a teenager, Dana decides to sleep her day away.
Pride
Since he dropped his phone into his morning coffee, Chris takes an hour off that afternoon to buy a new one. He returns with a phone that's small and shiny, and spends the next two hours trying to work out how to program it.
Kim and Elliot are working the phones, trying to get in contact with the infamous sports star of the moment. Will offers to help, but they end up squabbling over the instruction booklet. Dave's too busy trying to fix the visuals for tonight's show.
In the end, Chris swallows his pride and asks Jeremy for help.
Lust
When Anthony's gets really crowded, they tend to send Kim to the bar.
It isn't because they're lazy, and it isn't because they aren't willing to go and get the drinks themselves. It's just because Kim get served faster. When she sashays over to the bar, she smiles at Jack and leans forward to order. If Chris or Will order, they always wait, just another guy in the crowd. If they send Kim, they get their drinks.
She never does it too willingly, but it's a simple deal. She goes over and buys their drinks, and they pay for hers.
Envy
The latest fuss is caused by Natalie's shoes. They're black, maroon and tan, with a two inch heel, and a toe that's just between round and pointed.
Dan's the first one to notice, and comments on them when she walks into the noon rundown. Casey rolls his eyes and the rest of the guys ignore them. Kim says they're great and Dana forces her to stand up so she can see them better.
Natalie feels vaguely guilty. They cost more than she should have spent. But the speculative gleam in Sally's eyes, later that night, proves they were worth it.
Gluttony
They don't often get donuts delivered to them. The cafeteria usually provides sandwiches and drinks, and the occasional snack, but it's always savory stuff. Biscuits and cheeses; bagels and croissants. It's not the type of sugary sweet junkfood that Will loves.
For some unknown reason, today they've been blessed with a box of donuts. There's variety in the selection, plain sugared cinnamon sitting amongst the bright pink icing and the chocolate sprinkles. Hiding deep within the box, there's even a lone jelly-filled donut, calling to Will's sweet-tooth.
Taking a quick look around, Will casually places the donut on his plate.

Of *course* he is. Hee. I love that man's canonical fetishes.

Date: 2004-03-11 07:09 pm (UTC)Thank you. They're just like that extra bit of chocolate you know you shouldn't have. Sweet, and not really *that* bad for you.
And: "Dan's the first one to notice"
Of *course* he is. Hee. I love that man's canonical fetishes.
Heh. These are the things that make him Dan.

Date: 2004-03-11 07:13 pm (UTC)But really, very sweet. I especially like "Avarice" ('cause that's the best solution, and the world needs more Dave). And "Wrath" ('cause Elliot's my favourite).
Also, Dan noticing Natalie's shoes gave me quite a thrill. Not going to examine that.

Date: 2004-03-11 07:19 pm (UTC)Thank you. I really wanted an excuse to focus on the secondary characters for a change, but in the end, everyone got in on the action.

I like Elliot a lot (all from his "If something's yours, set it free" comment to Dan), but my favourite's Will. Don't why exactly, but there's something about a guy who's afraid of lumber sports... *g*

*snerk* No, it's probably best for everyone to just leave it at that.

Date: 2004-03-11 09:31 pm (UTC)Thanks. Yeah, sometimes the goal is not to look good, it's to know that other people think you look good.

Date: 2004-03-12 07:16 am (UTC)(a) love Danny's shoe fetish - how many times does it crop up in the show? At least twice, without my even having to think about it and
(b) adore Dave and, if I can't have Danny, will quite happily settle for him as the future Mr Hilary. With Kim on the side, if that's okay with everyone.

Three times I think. Once to Dana (about what she's wearing to Sachs' bash), once about Hilary Clinton (he mentions something like..."the hair, the style, the shoes") and... I'm not sure. But I'm sure there's a third mention.
(b) adore Dave and, if I can't have Danny, will quite happily settle for him as the future Mr Hilary. With Kim on the side, if that's okay with everyone.
*waves magic wand* Okay, it's official. Dave is now the future Mr Hilary. (Personally, my fave of the secondary characters is Will. No real reason, I just really like him. *g*)

Danny: Ha! Do they ever!</>
Now I must away to arrange my Hope Chest for me and Dave. Can't start too soon. Would he prefer classical or modern table settings, I wonder ... or does he eat off his lap in front of the telly like the rest of us ...?

Love it love it love it.
