Well, I was discussing starsigns and Danny and Casey with [livejournal.com profile] shellah, I mentioned my way of personalising character aspects, and my belief that Casey is a Leo. Through the discussion, we came to the conclusion that Dan was an Aquarius.

out there Annie: Then again, I find myself using a lot of personal details in fics. Random stuff that really... no basis for applying it to that character, other than I want to.
shellah: *nods*
shellah: yep
out there Annie: For instance, Casey? Am vaguely positive that he's a Leo.
shellah: hee!
out there Annie: I'm pretty damn certain you could argue it another way, but... yeah. That's what I believe.
shellah: do you have reasons for this belief?
shellah: other than your own leo-ness? *g*
out there Annie: Heh.
out there Annie: Okay, let's list the reasons:

- First of all, there's the self-absorbtion. Casey's self-absorbed. He may not be trendy, but he is proud of his appearance, and very concerned that others could think badly of him.

- There is the underlying belief that the world really does revolve around him. I mean, yeah, sure, he knows that it *doesn't*, but deep-down, it's a basic assumption.

- Okay, there's the high level of personal loyalty to friends.
out there Annie: Casey is extremely loyal, and it's the personal betrayal (Dan's Draft Day snaffu) that hurts him the most.

- The temper. When Casey does totally explode (Napoleon's Plan, for instance) he does tend to explode, but he gets over it quickly enough. He doesn't really hold a grudge, he tends to explode and then get over it.

- Casey's attitude to Charlie. Leos tend to be very proud parents. They'll dote on their kids, and overindulge them, and make them a high priority in their lives. They also tend to be demanding parents, expecting their kids to be somewhat outstanding. It's a pretty good summation of how Casey treats Charlie. He doesn't mean to put pressure on him to be great, but his obvious pride in Charlie's achievements does.

- There's the very large ego.

...

Then, we checked out this page, and decided that he's very much a Leo.

After a lot of discussion, we decided Dan was an Aquarius. I'd invite you to check 'em out, and see if you agree.

...

Compatibility For Leo with Aquarius:

This pair of the sun and Uranus is usually a good one. Leo likes surprise and Aquarius will be happy to supply it. Both signs are better when doing things for others. Leo loves the world and Aquarius loves humanity. This makes for an excellent combination for a partnership that deals with or caters to the public. Each have a mutual understanding of the other when it comes to intimate matters, needs and desires. There is never a dull moment in their lives as Aquarius holds many surprises for Leo.

While these two will be attracted to one another, they are zodiac opposite which means that it can be as bad as it is good and usually is.

...

shellah: oh wow, that's perfect for dan and casey
out there Annie: yes, it works surprisingly well for them.
out there Annie: I'm feeling oddly proud of our astrological observations... *preens*
shellah: hee!
shellah: you'll have to post it
shellah: fanon for everyone to share *giggles*

Ha, Dan is so an Aquarius.

So is Sam Seaborn, for that matter.

Thanks. *g*

Hmmm... I wouldn't have thought so... Hmm... He might be, though. Huh. I always have been attracted to Aquarians.

I would have thought Sam was a somewhat more grounded star sign, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure what. Not fire, not earth. *thinks* Yeah, Aquarius or Pisces, I guess.

*reads over the Aquarius description*

Dude, you're so right. Sam's such an Aquarius.

H'm ... Intellectual Property aired on 13 October and I always take it that shows air in something roughly equivalent to real-time. Leo's mid-July to mid-August ... so that's probably about as long as it'd take the intellectual property cops to catch up to Danny - incidentally, is this the place to snipe about the person who did the Sports Night subtitles not being able to spell 'libiamo'? Well, who do I see about that? It's annoying.

Sorry. As you were.

I'm a Gemini, so I'm just fine with Danny being an Aquarius or, indeed, an aquarium as I just typed. Sigh. We Air signs need to stick together.

*snorfle* The worst one? "A plum". Casey didn't handle his divorce with aplomb, he handled it with "a plum". That subtitle makes me giggle every time.

However it's canon that Casey's birthday is September 5th which makes him a Virgo, an entirely different kettle of fish altogether.

How is it canon?

Seriously, when's it mentioned?

In 'Intellectual Property' when Dan goes to see the ubiquitous Ms. Mallory Moss, she says, "During your broadcast on September 5th, you sang "Happy Birthday" to your partner, Casey McCall." then slugs him with a bill for $2500.00 for his trouble.

I had to look it up. I knew the ep but couldn't remember the exact wording.

I couldn't remember them mentioning it.

On the other hand, I've worked for Virgo bosses (actually, all three of my male bosses have been Virgos), so I'd probably get on with Casey. (I don't tend to actually get on too well with male Leos. They bring out the incredibly competitive side in me...)

I'm the opposite. Being an Aires I get along famously with Leos (we're both fire signs) but have a bit of a problem with Virgos. My dad was a Virgo. Nuf said.
