Have decided to join in the Footy tipping at work and am feeling all sportsman-like. For the royal sum of $20, I get to pick which team will win, and stand the chance to win $100 if I get more right than everyone else.

As you can tell by the way I'm describing this, I don't have any clue what I'm doing. I am lightyears away from Casey and Dana's Draft Day psych-outs, but everyone else is sending emails in support of their team.

Picture Niles Crane (from Frasier) joining in a football pool, and you'll get an idea of how I'm approaching this. Well, picture him choosing the winning teams through that classic technique of flipping a coin, and you'll have a perfect mental picture of my attitude to this.

Still, the inner probability-geek in me is loving this chance to see how pure chance compares to knowledge, hunches and team loyalty.

Heh. Umm... I don't even know what I picked. Let's me check...

Richmond vs [Collingwood]
[Hawthorn] vs Melbourne
Fremantle vs [Carlton]
[Brisbane] vs Sydney
[St Kilda] vs Geelong
[Port Adelaide] vs Essendon
Kangaroos vs [Adelaide]
W. Bulldogs vs [West Coast]

The ones in [] are the ones my coin picked. *g*

Admittedly, I know nothing about AFL. No, that's wrong: I know more about AFL than I do about either rugby code so I guess that's something.

I'm mainly a rabid Freo fangirl because:
a) it irritates members of my famiily
b) when they *finally* start winning I can claim to have been there from the start
c) c'mon, their uniforms are PURPLE! and red and white and green. What's not to love?
d) it is fun to piss off Victorians by *daring* to walk around Melbourne in a Dockers scarf
e) purple, I tells ya.

However, I think the coin is probably a much better judge of form than I am so woo! go the coin!

Hee! See? I could get behind fannish colourings. Of course, I'd start mentally referring to them as the Sharks, but that can't be helped. (Metropolis Sharks, from Smallville, owned by the Luthors.)

I sort of support Essendon by extension, because my brothers a (small) fan and they're the only team I can recognise.

Yep, it's alllllllll about the uniforms.

I also forgot another reason why I support them
f) The Dockers?? WTF? No, seriously. What is that?

I am turning more into a sports fan though. Mainly because going to the football is so freakin' cool. I never thought I'd be one of those people who'd enjoy going and watching men run around about a piece of dead pig but it is awesome. No. Really!. Stop looking at me that way! I'm serious. 8)

*tries to stop looking at you like that*

Huh. Well, I can almost see the appeal of watching guys get sweaty together, but really... that's what slash is for. *g*
