out_thereI'm watching Utena, and I'd forgotten how much I loved it. I just watched ep 20, "Wakaba has flourished verdently" (I think). Man, it still makes me feel sorry for Wakaba, for being one of the people who really is just a bit-player, who'll never be particularly important in the grand scheme of things.
Then again, looking at it from that angle almost makes you see why Wakaba/Saionji could have worked. They're both characters helplessly overshadowed by their "best friend". They get caught up in the plots, but never really drive them. (Yes, I still love Saionji, brute that he may be.)
*sighs* Then again, the entire Black Rose saga is a bit like that. It's all these tertiary characters who never really get a say. And, if you think about it, a lot of the Akio Saga is about the secondary characters and taking advantage of their known weaknesses.
I love the shadow girls completely, and always will. However, the scenes where the Black Rose elevator's going down still gives me the impression of the coffins moving up, not the elevator moving down.

And, you know, I still kinda want an Akio icon with the caption "Super Slut Triumphant". Aestheticism once described him that way, and it's just stuck, regardless of his lack of actual... y'know, *triumph* per se.

Hmmm... I'm wondering if there's many people who'd be interested in getting together over, say, Easter Weekend, and watching some eps. We could pick a day in the long weekend, and overdose on pretty, gender-confusing anime. *g*
