iibnf wrote an interesting HP ficlet that I enjoyed, even though I'm not big into that fandom. It has a delightfully subtle point regarding the Malfoys.
oxoniensis wrote a YA icon fic, Summer Rain, because I asked her to. Now there is one more *good* Scout/Will fic in the world! *bounces* Can you tell they were my YA couple of choice?

My thrill of the morning? Mum's put some of the photos taken on the cruise up (I'll have to scan and post sometime to share with you guys, but it won't happen any time soon), and pointed out that we have the same smile.
I'm kinda thrilled by this because I've always loved Mum's smile. Mind you, our smiles still look very different. Mum has huge teeth, which makes her smile just *beam*. I have more shapely lips (from Dad's side), and smaller teeth, and a gummy smile (think Alison Mack - cheery, but gummy). But the shape that our lips pull into when we smile is the same.
I am oddly pleased by this.

There's that icon meme going around, about how the genders are represented in your icons. (Harriet_spy started it.)
Huh. Out of 50 pictures, I have:
Single female: 8
Multiple female: 2 (ie. icons of more than one female character)
Single male: 30
Multiple male: 5
Group/Indeterminate: 5
So, it's basically 70% male.
My SV icons are only 4 single males, as I'm more into Sports Night at the moment. If I got rid of the SN icons, my stats would shift to:
Single female: 5
Multiple female: 0
Single male: 21
Multiple male: 1
Group/Indeterminate: 3
Which makes it 74% male.
Huh. I think my results will always be more male focused because I'm primarily a m/m slasher. I like pics of my boys. Hmmm... If you remove the pics from my top three fandoms (SN, WW and SV), it drops to 57% male.
However, as Te pointed out, a lot of us have icons for specifically fannish purposes, meaning that you don't personally identify with the icon, you keep it there because those are the boys you slash (in my case). So, now I'm thinking about Me Icons. The ones that I use because they personally reflect what I think/feel, not really for fannish purposes. These are the ones that I would keep, even if I wasn't in that fandom any more.
(Hmmm... that last one I'm iffy about. I don't have a strong personal correlation with it, but I do use it to represent *me* as well as fandom.)
Interestingly, the girls look similar. There's not bright, brassy blondes, or asians. There's the brown hair and pale skin that I do have. (But, no, I do not actually look like Eliza Dushku. *g*) Procrastination/work avoidance is another theme, and it is something that I associate with me, and with my use of LJ.
Hmmm... I don't think there's any other deep & meaningful thoughts you could get from that. But, intriguing that it's 50% female, and the laughing boy and the procrastination icon are not... obviously *male*.
