I sometimes wonder whether the verb 'to lie' takes different declensions in American English, it's misused so frequently, and by people who should know better. Josh, for example, in TWW saying "Is it better to lay down in front of a train, or - ?" At which point I completely stopped having a crush on Josh. Tragedy!
I think the 'could care less', meaning 'couldn't' might come under the heading of a regional colloquialism. But then again, maybe not.
