Don't wanna study. Writing meme gakked from [livejournal.com profile] celli:

When did you write your first "Fanfiction" piece? What was it for?

I was 15/16. It was a self-insertion, anime crossover that was never finished.

Did you actually post it anywhere?

Thankfully, *no*. The world of fandom thanks me for this.

What series have you written fanfics for? (both posted stories, and non-posted stories)

Anime: Ranma 1/2; Sailor Moon; Fushigi Yuugi
TV: Smallville; West Wing; Sports Night; Crossing Jordan; QaFUS;
Movies: Shindler's List; Harry Potter
Other: Popslash (crossover with QaFUS); Justice League; Batman (never finished)

Any Original Characters (ones that got named) that you had inhabit the series universes? If so - who/where? (yes, this is where we embarrass you by revealing your dark secrets!)

Huh. Not really. No big series, and when it comes to individual fics, I don't tend to really name extra characters. I'm incredibly anal about using tertiary characters. When I can't, I'll just think of some random name off the top of my head, but the character is never important.

(Hey, if I'm lying about this and can't remember, feel free to point it out to me.)

If you had the chance to have the original creator turn any of your fanfic into an actual piece, which story would you choose?

Um... The SN Homophobic wip? So I could sit back and watch it onscreen without having to write it? *smiles hopefully*

It probably has to be a finished fic, right? SV fics are out of the question, because canon has moved too far away from those S1 writings.

So, what am I most proud of? The Sam Seaborn Five Things fic would be out of the question, too. Hmmmm... I already consider Initial Conditions as basically canon...

Okay, I want Handsome/Attractive because that feels like an SN episode to me. It wanders, it takes its time, and unlike other fics, it's not so sexually explicit that I couldn't imagine it onscreen.

Do you have any weird music quirks that help you write?

I choose music depending on what I'm trying to write, and I especially need it for a sex scene. If it's slow kisses, I need slow music (Neil Finn's lighter stuff, Ani DiFranco, sometimes Something For Kate). If it's hard and fast, I need music with a low, twisty beat (Nine Inch Nails "Closer" and "Perfect Drug"; The Cure's "Seperation St" and "Spider Man", Neil Finn's "Twisty Bass"...)

*shrugs* The *feel* of the music can be important.

What are common "themes" you hide in your stories?

Um... it can depend on the story, but basic themes...? I think if you looked in my stories, you'd see bits of:

Self-deception: the different ways we deceive ourselves, how hard we find it to look past our own preconceived ideas.

Love as Friendship: That being in love should be like being really good friends, with added sex and lust thrown in. That being in love shouldn't be complicated and confusing.

Personal Freedom: That there is always a choice in any situation. That any choice (barring death) can be reversed. That the key to your own freedom is looking around and accepting that you don't have to live by other people's rules.

What are your favorite characters to write POV's from?

SV: Lex, but I can write Clark.
SN: Casey, and I can do Dan but don't do it frequently. I've played around with the others in short forms.
WW: Josh or Sam, but I'm experimenting with Donna.

POV's I can't write: Toby, Isaac, Bartlet, Pete. They make my brain just stop.

What story of yours do you wish more people would read and love?

Generally, whatever I'm writing at the time. Sometimes, I want people to love my favourites, the ones that felt so damn hard to write*, but generally, whatever I've just written.

*Hard to write: As linked above, Initial Conditions, and the 5 Things fic for Sam; WW crossover smut: Hazy New York; SN femslash Girls' Night In, That Guy...

(Wow. You know what this meme has been good for? Giving me an excuse to look over my old stuff. I always find smut hard to write, but I've gotta say, I hit my own buttons. I'm going to assume that's a good thing.)

If you could pick a specific scene of your story to be made into a comic-book/doujinshi format, what scene from what fanfic would you pick?

Hmmm... I'm going to say the last scene of The Magical Powers of a New Shirt. I'm just imagining comic-Casey dragging himself out of bed, shirt half done up, and then the morning kiss and little bit of breakfast stealing. It's cute, it's adorable, and it could work well as a sweet little doujinshi.

And last but not least - Why do you like writing fanfiction?

Fanfiction gives me a sense of self-fulfillment that I just don't find in other areas of life. I write, I share and I can squee with other brilliant babes, but there is also an incredible thrill of looking back and saying "I did that." It's a total thrill.

Oh, dude, anime!norrington? He'd be so adorable!

Man, we need some good artists to draw this... Or, you know, one of those little comic generators to produce pictures... (Like the thingy that produced this icon)

You should study!!

I can say that in a 'nagging Mother' voice, too.

But. You'll study better if you balance left-brain and right-brain activities and, having done a period of studying, then take time out and concentrate on something frivolous in order to give your mind time to digest what it's learned.

Did that sound convincing and scientific? I thought so. Sadly, I just made it up, so it's probably a load of old bollix. Worth a shot, though, eh?

I'd like to see the 'new shirt' story on screen. Luckily I have a very visual imagination. Or, on reflection, maybe that's not so good after all.

Hey, it's a good thing.

I just... Okay, I don't actually watch porn. I know this sounds insane, but... I live with my mum: I'm not going to have porn vids sitting around. But, I tend to read a hell of a lot, so I'd be just as thrilled watching PK and JC make out as do more.

And, yes, I am stuffing around somehting shocking with this assignment. I get these breif flares of motivation, and then it's just... gone. I suck.
