CASEY: This was really gonna be the year I started taking care of myself. I took vitamins. I dressed properly. I played racquet sports. All because someone said, and I believed them, that if I took care of my body, my body would take care of me.

It amuses me so much that Casey kept his promise regarding the racquet sports. When they're stuck in their boxers (many months later by SN's timeline) and Casey mentions his calves have been called shapely, he also says that he plays squash three times a week.

(I'm typing up the next bit of the Homophobic wip and had to check a phrase.)

Squash... I've always thought it was a bit of a weird sorta sport. Hitting a ball against a wall?? Or maybe that's the 6yo in me talking. My parents used to play squash every weekend with friends, and I'll just sit there watching, bored outta my mind, thinking what a stupid way it was to spend time hitting a ball against a wall, especially when you have to be put into a 'cage' to do it. I could've easily done the same thing at home in the backyard. Heh.

It's a kind of fun sport. Contained. Indoors. Practical. *g*

Maybe it's cos I went on a trip to the zoo that year or something, it just reminded me of those animals trapped behind glass cage... huh. ;)

I was just noticing how this resembles Sam's speech about teeth. I don't know why I didn't ever notice it before! "I'm nuts about dental hygiene." Hee!

And I was really excited the first time I saw the episode where he said he played squash. I played competitive squash all through high school and part of college, and it's a fantastic sport! Plus, for an aerobic work-out it's hard to beat...

But, yes, it is rather similar to Sam's dental hygiene speech. Bless those language geeks that look after they're bodies.
