I'm still vaguely thinking about changing my online name. It's a thought that's occured to me a couple times over the last few weeks. I tend to list my stories under, basically, my real name.

Not that I expect anyone to be bothered googling my name, but...

Yeah, total vague worry. (I think it's just excess exam stress.) I could change my name, but it would mean changing my site, and contacting about four or five different archives to change it there, and maybe double checking all competitions/challenges that I've responded to. Which would be a lot of work but the thing that makes me stop is that I'd need to change my email address too. Otherwise it's still damn obvious.

I like my email address. I don't change email addresses easily or wantonly. So, yeah, I don't think I'll be changing my name.

All the same, this led to me googling it. Huh.

I think it's a rec (in Chinese?) for my Schindler's List fic. Huh.

Mind you, I also found out that two of my fics were nominated for the Josh/Sam award for the Jeds. Huh again. Well, considering that I never vote in that contest, it shouldn't be surprising that the nominations surprised me. Um, that did make sense inside my own head.

Okay, I think I'd better stop typing before I say anything even more stupid.

*googles you* (I didn't want you to feel lonely!)

I did a Yahoo! search on my real name the other day, and found my resume, which I had linked to years ago when I was young and stupid. It had my phone number and physical address on it.

How sweet!

Eep. Well, at least nothing directly results in my name/address/telephone number. It would need to be a RL person bored and googling me to come up with my online writings.

Or, if I go through Yahoo, there's more mentions of me betaing (ie. Thanks to blah, blah, blah for beta-duties).

Although, lookie what I came across (http://sunlight.fourhobbits.net/recs.html). And I quote:

Colors by Annie Grayston - Clark/Lex. A lovely quiet fic about, well, colors. Fantastic.

Huh. That's kinda cool. *g*

Dear, its not a rec, it's a whole bloody translation of your fic into Chinese. They've got a 99% accuracy rate in the translation. Missed some stuff that I think is due to cultural/language differences.

Example: The war brings out the nasty side of man.

Personally, I think you meant "man" as in "race of man". In the translation, it became the gender man.

Other than that, heck, even the chinese version read really well! Girl, when your work has been translated into anonther language, you know you rule! :)

good luck on the exams!!

Such fiction of mine as there is up (most of it was written well pre-Internet) is under one pseudonym or another. I just always liked keeping one thing separate from another, I suppose. I do just come up if you Google my real name (so do both my brothers, and even my sister, once), but only just. And one of those is a photo, but, mercifully, a very blurry one.

I think it's a precaution. You know, if you get a Big, Important, High-Level Job - or even just a regular shite one - and you don't want your colleagues Googling for you one day when everyone's bored out of their minds and finding the slash fic.

Requires too much memory. I'm x over here, and y over there, and if it's a Tuesday and the wind's blowing nor'notheast, I'm z. Too confusing for my fragile little mind.

*shrugs* I mean, yeah, that's true, but... Right now, Big, Important, High Level Job can kiss my well-rounded butt. The likelihood of me gettignt hat job is so slim that I couldn't be bothered going back and changing my email address.
