Jun. 4th, 2004 02:27 pmI'm taking a lunch break, and spending half an hour replying to email posts.
Summary of study? Accounting Theories is what happens when accounting academics have far too much time on their hands. I ask you, what is the practical use of a theory, that *can't* be compared to reality and that is too radically different from current practice to *ever* be implemented? It's only purpose is to annoy the hell out of accounting students.
Oh, and I found out that this site isn't a rec for my story in Chinese, it's my story *translated* to Chinese. I have managed to have my fic posted in a foreign language, without actually having to learn said language. Go me.
Huh. Answered my emails and I have five minutes spare. I think I'll try to catch up on a little LJ before I go off and eat.
(And, yes, still got the flu, but now have more cold'n'flu tablets. *hugs medication*)

Date: 2004-06-04 07:03 am (UTC)Umm... well, if the current system has a complete and utter breakdown, at least then there are other altanatives that can be put in place. Or they might just be a more efficient way of doing things, just that the practical still needs to catch up with the theory.
Yeah, I'm a bit of a fan of theories. The possibilities are endless. ;)

Date: 2004-06-05 12:16 am (UTC)Okay, that's just harsh.
The point is that the practical will *never* accept this theory. It's... It would require a fundamental shift in the *purpose* of accounting.
It's like...trying to re-write contract law to mainly protect outside parties. It's insane.
It's an example of someone taking two assumptions, following them to their logical conclusion, and coming up with a completely insane solution.
Totally insane.

Date: 2004-06-06 09:03 am (UTC)As for contract law protecting outside parties, well, I'm pretty sure there's this branch of contract law that does that, but God if I can remember what it's called.
I guess the theories that I liked are mostly from cultural studies... which is ALL theory anyway. Heh.
