Epiphany
Casey blinked, scrunched his eyes closed as he yawned, and then blearily opened them again. Dan was sitting on the floor, across the doorway, just watching him. "What?"
Dan smiled softly and shook his head. "Nothing."
"Nothing?" Casey asked doubtfully. "I have a hard time believing that."
"Believing what?"
Casey sat up on the bed, stretching his neck. "That you're sitting in the doorway, watching me as if I'm your favourite stuffed toy from childhood, and that there's no reason for it."
"Ah," Dan said softly. "I had an epiphany."
"An epiphany?" It was too early in the morning for Casey to make that sound as sarcastic as it should have. "That's even worse than nothing."
Dan's smile just got a little wider, but his voice remained low. "Did you want to hear my epiphany?"
"Isn't there a law against life-changing events being shared before breakfast?" Casey asked and Dan shrugged. "Shouldn't I get coffee first?"
"There's a fresh lot in the kitchen," Dan offered. "But this isn't a life-changing event. It's just... a realisation."
Casey sighed. It was hard to keep up the expected level of ironic cynicism when Dan was smiling like that, watching him with such a tender expression. "Okay, tell me."
Casey winced, waiting for something unspeakably bad, but Dan just said, "You snore."
"I snore?"
"You snore."
Casey blinked. "And that's your epiphany? That after sleeping together for five months, you've realised I snore?"
"No." Dan shook his head.
"Then what was it?"
"You snore," Dan repeated, and then smiled that sweet smile again. "You snore, and I don't mind it."
Casey sighed and wondered if he should have asked for caffiene. "You don't mind it?"
"It occured to me that I don't mind it. I'm used to you snoring. That..." Dan paused, but his smile didn't change. "That I'd find it weird to go to sleep without you snoring."
"And that realisation made you want to sit in the doorway to sleep?"
"Oh, I didn't sleep."
"Danny, I just woke up. Have a little pity on the caffiene-deprived," Casey whined shamelessly. "Why would you stay awake, sitting in the doorway?"
"I stayed up, watching you sleep." Dan stood up easily and padded over to the bed.
Casey was still confused. "Because you're used to me snoring?"
"Not because I'm used to you snoring, Case," Dan said, wrapping a cool hand around the back of Casey's neck, "but because it feels like home."
Casey blinked, feeling the smile slowly stretch across his face. "Huh."
Dan smiled back at him. "Yeah, not life-changing," Dan said gently, and then pressed a soft kiss against Casey's smile.
"No?"
"Just..." Dan shrugged. "An epiphany."

Date: 2004-07-11 05:26 am (UTC)You've been busy tonight (today? You on otherside of the world often confuses me). I like it when you're busy.
*actually goes to read the fic*
Awww... watching people sleep always melts me a little. And little details about people. I love the little details and other people loving them.
on another note:
out there Annie: Casey was still confused. "Because you're used to me snoring?"
Wrote this over AIM?

Date: 2004-07-11 06:50 am (UTC)Celli pointed it out to me as I was writing the WW fic. It was begging for a fic (preferably smut, but sap will do too.).

Between 3pm and Midnight (it's now midnight for me). But, yes, busy today.

Yeah. It's the little stuff that makes you know you love them. Or it should be.
Wrote this over AIM?
Bugger. Yes, and then pasted into txt and LJ. Didn't use word to take out the chatnames, so I must have just missed that one.

Date: 2004-07-11 05:35 am (UTC)And such an adorable picture. I like Threesome probably more than i should do - and have watched it far too often - given that it's not a very good movie, and Josh has such big hair (luckily Stephen Baldwin's hair curtains are so horrendous, Josh's hair looks pretty much okay by comparison).

Date: 2004-07-11 06:47 am (UTC)Thank you!
And such an adorable picture.
Indeed. Although, I actually like his huge hair... *g* And, really, any film that features Josh Charles mostly naked, and eyefucking another guy *while* mostly naked? Has to be a good thing!

And this was lovely.
