As far as Casey/Dana goes, I'm generally not a supporter of the whole idea. Having said that, I still cheered for thenm to kiss at the start of S2 because the build-up had me on the edge of my seat.
Macha and Marguerite's On Studio B, a Cricket Bat, and a Kiss manages to take that same tension, that same romantic possibility and tease it out to the triumphant kiss at the end. Of course, that's not the reason you should read it.
The reason you should read it is the Sorkinese. Great banter, with every character of the SN crew getting at least a line. Extra points for several scenes of gossip-hungry Abby and for sentences that only a professional can say without pausing for breath.1
However, I'm still not sure what Casey was doing with the cricket bat...
1 "It was the fax about the suit that got Casey to agree with Natalie that he needed to explain to Dana that he didn't mean it when he said 'it' wasn't going to happen again, or that he meant it but that it didn't mean what she thought it meant."
Eyes wide, Abby said, "That is remarkable."
"It's a remarkable story."
"No, I mean how you can make all of that into one sentence and say it without getting out of breath."
"Well, I am a professional."

Date: 2005-03-22 11:21 am (UTC)I liked it. Maybe because I spent the entire fic thinking, "Why does Casey have a cricket bat? Why wouldn't he *know* it was a cricket bat?"
Plus, it's... Casey/Dana, but it's All About Danny. I liked the subtlety that the writer used to dissect Dan (since starting the Therapy wip, I have a new respect for anyone who can get Abby to work well).
Then again, me enjoying the fic could also have something to do with the fact that I've lost my slash glasses. When I'm watching S2 of SN, and it's just not dinging for me...? *sighs*

Date: 2005-03-22 11:33 am (UTC)I think too much about these things! Probably to compensate for the fact that I think very little overall.
I liked the Danny bits best. I just didn't want to admit it. Because that would imply that I'm the sort of person who, when in a hurry, just watches all the Danny scenes, usually anything with Isaac, sometimes Casey, occasionally Dana, but always fast-forwards through Jeremy and Natalie.

Date: 2005-03-22 01:43 pm (UTC)I hope not, but then again, it is possible. (On the other hand, even though we play -- and as a nation, frequently win -- cricket, I still didn't know what Jeremy was talking about. As it turns out, Backyard Cricket really bears no resemblence to Real Cricket; hence, I can't understand the technicalities.)

*snerk* And, no, you're not like that *at* *all*.

Date: 2005-03-22 02:00 pm (UTC)There is a v funny explanation that one finds on souvenir teatowels and things, which, of course, I don't have committed to memory, not even enough to Google for (btw, Google tells me it's World Water Day, which just made me want to pee). I did find this (http://www.ubu.brad.ac.uk/sports/cricket/fun/satire.htm) though, which is mildly amusing.

Date: 2005-03-22 03:02 am (UTC)I also wanted to ask if you'd mind if I used your "quicxotic Casey" icon. If you'd rather not share, that's perfectly fine, but I thought I'd ask--I love it!

Date: 2005-03-22 11:24 am (UTC)Also, I have a policy of mutual-friending (just because all the semi-personal posts are FLocked, since I'm a little paranoid of real-life anonymous readers). Just give me a yell if you'd rather I didn't friend you (since if I do, you'll get my blathering, and if you just wanted to read the recs/fics, it's probably better if I don't -- if that makes sense?).

Meanwhile, because I'm less than particularly bright, I just realised that you're from the SNSlash mailing list (and just posted this recs page (http://www.geocities.com/ajamyarg/riverlight/snrecs.html) -- and thanks for the rec, btw!).

Date: 2005-03-22 12:55 pm (UTC)Well, yeah, but when I have your email message open, and your recs page open, and I'm wondering why your LJ name rings a bell? It's one of those headdesk moments. *laughs*
meanwhile, I was going to ask if you'd read... Okay, I totally can't remember which fic I was going to mention.
*shrugs* Oh well. It was probably one of the Polyamourous recs (http://bifictionalbedlam.slashcity.net/recs/index.html), anyway.

Date: 2005-03-22 01:11 pm (UTC)Mm, I love the polyamourous recs site... I probably have read it, if it's up there. But if you remember what it's called, ask me again, because it's also likely that I might have missed it.

Date: 2005-03-22 01:17 pm (UTC)Technically, it's genfic but it has Casey being dorkishly gleeful about gymnastics and Dan dancing in his underwear. Plus, lots of snark and mentions of the 2004 Olympics.
