May. 28th, 2005 10:24 amFirst, because I've been sick with a cold for a little while, I want to point out
phoebesmum's You Begin To Make It Better. Dan/Casey, extremely sweet, and basically written for me. Dan has a cold, and won't admit it, and Casey promises him chicken soup (without feet).
"I can do the show," he says, and actually manages to fake a couple of lines of typing before he shoves back his chair, exhausted, and lets his head flop down to rest on his arms.
"You’ll look good on camera," Casey agrees. Especially Dan's eyes, which are barely visible, his eyelids are so red and swollen. And the small breakout of acne on his forehead: that's attractive, too. "If it were Christmas, you could double for Rudolph."
Secondly, because I'm a sucker whenever Casey's being Proud Dad, I'd also suggest you read
zaneetas The Essay ("Originally Written in Ballpoint Pen -- A Pen Which Works at All Altitudes Above Sea Level! First Created by Hungarian Laszlo Biro in 1938."). It's SN gen, but it's genuinely funny and a great read. Charlie does a paper on office supplies, Casey's incredibly proud, and Dan's a little unsettled by the fact that Charlie's teacher's name is Phineas.
"Is this Phineas also a celebrated cult figure in the fast-paced underground world of trance music?"
"He's a balding 40 year old man who lives with his grandmother in Hoboken, Danny."
Dan swiveled his chair in a semi-circle a few times. "So you're saying it's a possibility."
